Re: New duel extrusion
I agree with the comment about light color filaments. I just posted a video of a 2 color frog, printed in red and blue with a 20mm priming pillar... it worked out beautifully. The same frog printed in white and purple did show some tinting of some of the white areas. It was worse with a bright white...

Dual extrusion video - Rostock Max v2
A few days ago, I updated one of my 3D printers, so it can now do dual extrusion. The hardware is performing very nicely, and after some tweaking of the slicer settings, I’m getting some nice dual color prints. Without going into too much detail, this video shows how I have the hardware set up, and ...

No problem at all running with one extruder...Twac1 wrote:I don't want to install mine if I can't run just a single extrusion. Can I still run it with a single extrusion after I update the firmware?
You can use either one, or both.

Re: Auto Calibration points
A related request for those of us who have built enclosures that are fairly close to the bed diameter... doing a G29 can crash the head into the enclosure wall. So if we don't mind a smaller build diameter, is there an easy way of telling the auto calibration to use a smaller area of the build plate?

Re: Rostock Max v2 HE280/Accelerometer Upgrade - Summary
Last week, I had a problem with similar(but not exactly the same) symptoms, but with my X tower. Mine would not hit the tower before touching the bed, but would crash into, and slide off the bed, then hit the tower. It turns out that my wiring was correct but the accelerometer did not like my build ...

Am about 2 hours into a 5 hour print of a two color tree frog. Though it needs some tweaking, it's looking good.

Re: Problems with HE280 installation on Max V2
There is an old saying "No good deed goes unpunished" After clearing the eeprom again, and uploading the firmware again, I still had the same problem. However, I made one more change that solved the problem. I replaced the GeckoTech build surface (that is held by magnets on a GeckoTech hea...

z max length is 360.906
So with the numbers so far, does it look like I've got it wired properly? Or could there still be a polarity issue?

I use this clip I found on Repables
I think it is http://repables.com/r/708/
It is attached to the fan duct with 3M double sided extreme tape

Re: Problems with HE280 installation on Max V2
Dale,
My current EEPROM reads
x1 -123.565 (note the negative vs positive in x2... is this indicative of reversed wires?)
x2 123.565
x3 0
y1 -71.34
y2 -71.34
y3 142.68

Re: Problems with HE280 installation on Max V2
I did clear the EEPROM prior to uploading the new build, but I will try it again.
It actually hits the build plate, gouges into the tape, and tilts so it slides off the build plate.

Problems with HE280 installation on Max V2
I added an HE280 to my Max V2, and am having an issue with the accelerometer This video shows how a G29 moves the hot end to the X tower, crashes into (and slides off of) the bed, then repeats. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LUDLukC1_k I had previously manually set the Z zero position, and did a t...

Re: Dual extruder upgrade for v2
I am not yet set up for dual extrusion... that will be completed in about a week. As mentioned, I am currently using the stock PEEK hot end, so I set Clone = 0... so should I really change it now? So I am just trying to get the dev firmware working properly in S3D until I complete a switchover. I wa...

Re: Dual extruder upgrade for v2
Any thoughts on these items? Also, I have some 18 gauge solid wire, I will use it to extend the extruder motor wires so it will reach the Rambo. Would this wire also be suitable for the few additional wires used by an HE280 hot end? I am installing a pair of plastic tubes behind my Z tower to facili...

Re: Dual extruder upgrade for v2
Ok, this is a bit strange. MatterControl seems to manage temperatures properly over USB Simplify3D does not appear to control the hot end temp IF the bed temp is set > 0. If the bed is set to 0 then it sends the hot end target temp to the printer. Printing previously working gcode from an SD card (c...

Dual extruder upgrade for v2
I got the dual extruder upgrade kit today, and am doing the prep work for installing it on my V2. First, I cleared then updated the Eeprom with the code from the Dev branch. The initial configuration settings are shown below. I have it currently set up for a single extruder, and have the original Se...
