Re: Rostock MAX v3...

That new hot end with the fans looks amazing. The only thing I hope is it uses the common E3Dv6 nozzle style, because those are really common and available in hardened steel, etc. Brass doesn't cut it for the filament I use, and so I need a more standardized nozzle.

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!

Just thought I would tag back in with an update. I discovered that the EZRstruder requires a SLIGHT modification to work with the geared steppers from TriDPrinting and their hobbed rollers. The oval hole in the red push lever needs to be modified to be more circular, otherwise the grub screw for th...

Re: Rostock MAX v3...

Are the melamine pieces there for support structure, or are they just decorative covers so the printer is not naked? I'm jealous either way.

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!

Without directions I was unsure how the align the hobbed gear with the idler. It was very hard to see how it aligns, so I put the gear on and ran some filament back and forth through the extruder by hand to "self align" the nitch with the filament path. It aligns differently than the orig...

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!

I received my EZRStruder this week and installed it today. My first impression are that it is a dramatic improvement over the EZStruder. Initial impressions: Very easy to install, even with no instructions. It eliminated the weird U shaped melanine spacers used for the EXStruder, and has the correct...

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!

That looks promising. I messed around with some semi flexible filament a while ago, and I had to make a custom bit of PTFE tube that went right to the edge of the hobbled gear, because the stock EZStruder was forcing it every which way but down the Bowden.

Re: Printer Geometry Numbers? New vs. Old Carriages and Repetier 0.91 vs 0.92

The current firmware distributed by SeeMeCNC is NOT .91! The current release is based on the most current Repetier Firmware release. g. You beat me to it! I was going to mention that the reason I went ahead and treated my machine as if it were a freshly built machine had a lot to do with the new ve...

Re: Printer Geometry Numbers: New vs. Old Carriages and Repetier 0.91 vs 0.92

After 2 years of daily use, my original u-joints were literally flopping around on the axles so I ordered the injection molded carriages and arms and ball joint barbells and installed them in one evening. Then I followed the user manual setup for a new printer, downloading the latest software and ju...

Re: Next Generation 32-Bit ARM Based 3D Printer Controller $118

For someone building a stock Rostock Max V2 with Rambo board, this looks like a nice less expensive replacement for the Rambo that supports some of the upgrades that people normally do to their Rostocks (24V heater, multiple extruder), plus it has WiFi, which seems to be high on a lot of wish lists ...

Re: A possible new product from 713maker.com? You decide!

I sent him a pm, but he must be busy. I originally asked him about the octagon ones... I wonder if it would be possible to get in with the octagon empressions in green/black like yours, but without the slits.... I doubt that is possible. I did a lot of research into carbon fiber when we were buildi...

Re: Auto Calibration Requierments

My advise: don't waste your time with Marlin auto leveling. I spent a loooonnng time trying to get it to work without success. Not worth the pain. There are reports of folks who claim they use it but at the end of the day, I couldn't. The one branch that Johann used actually DID NOT use the FSRs as...

Re: Auto Calibration Requierments

I have 24 hrs of experience (literally just installed it yesterday) with the IR module and 1000s of hrs with FSRs so I am not qualified to comment yet. That said, every solution is a tradeoff. I like the concept of touchless probing but having the probe position offset from the nozzle tip is not id...

Re: Auto Calibration Requierments

I'm thinking of adding hardware to my V2 for bed leveling and calibration. I've been looking at mhackney's recommendation for adding FSR's recently, and I think that's the direction I am leaning based on performance and ease of modding (I like not having to add extra wiring up the extrusions to the ...

Re: Duet WiFi details published and pre-order window open

Since Duet is open hardware, their SPI protocol (which appears to be simple Gcode) should be easily portable to any microcontroller with an SPI port. That being said, it should be pretty simple to port their ESP8266 webserver to any other CPU with any other outward facing network connection. I just ...

Re: Duet WiFi details published and pre-order window open

There's no reason the HAD concept wouldn't work, since the ESP8266 has 2 SPI ports in addition to the UART. Since they already have gone through the trouble to write their own ESP8266 firmware, adding a chip select to that firmware to communicate with multiple devices should be child's play. The Mic...

Re: burnt plastic dropping into print

The platform is not melting, no. the plastic seems to just be coating the underside of the printer. I have not verified the temps with a meter. It could just be excess plastic buildup on the sides of the nozzle tip. Once they get big enough they fall off and by then it is discolored from heat. Bett...

Re: Duet WiFi details published and pre-order window open

I hate to burst your bubble but this may not work because of reasons detailed here https://www.duet3d.com/forum/thread.php?id=29 The gist is both SPI channels are used for things currently (though rereading I see that the channels can be shared if cables are short). One is for communicating with th...

Re: HE280 Hot End and Probe board on RMAX v2

I designed our new ball-cup rod end to be a drop-in replacement for the Traxxas ends used now on our CF arms. They will be available separately for people that already have our CF arms to convert to ball-cup by simply unscrewing the Traxxas and gluing the ball-cup rod ends in place. They will becom...

Re: Duet WiFi details published and pre-order window open

The majority of folks do not have wired ethernet in their house, so they'd have to spend around that much on a wireless bridge to achieve network connectivity. I'm sorry that you desire wired connectivity, but the majority of folks wanted wifi. So it's better to leave off an option and screw a huge...

Re: Duet WiFi details published and pre-order window open

The reason most MSD cards come with SD adapters is because MSD and SD are the most common sizes, and most readers (like on computers so you can put files on them) are SD sized. You just made my point. If most computers have full sized SD readers, why would someone make a product that doesn't accept...

Re: Duet WiFi details published and pre-order window open

I'm not sure why you can't design a case for the duet to allow an opening for the SD card and USB slots, the wifi antenna will stick out a little but the case could be designed to consider this (a tab that sticks out to support it if it could potentially be hit during transportation, or nothing at ...
