Re: Barking Extruder - Jams

Something like this will work: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DLW3MNV

The idea is to put that tiny metal bead at the end of the probe all the way down into the hot end so that it touches the inside of the nozzle.

Re: Barking Extruder - Jams

This is very strange. I had to do some digging to refresh my memory on how the E3D v6 was put together. I couldn't recall whether or not it has a PTFE liner or not. (according to the doc sheet I found it doesn't) The repeatable timing on the skipping is just *screaming* "heat creep" at me ...

Re: Barking Extruder - Jams

1. Each roll of filament is going to have its own "sweet spot" for printing. Try bumping the temp up 5c and see how it prints. 2. I tried it out on a 7 year old spool and it worked great. 3. No idea. :) 4. Ahhh, I didn't know you were printing from Cura over USB. I thought it only did that...

Re: Barking Extruder - Jams

If my memory is correct, T-Glase is going to suck up water, so you should really dry it out (google "filament dryer" - you can make them out of food dehydrators) and it won't print well until you do. The skipping on the first layer is because your nozzle is too close to the bed and the fil...

Re: Barking Extruder - Jams

If it's a *reliable* 20 minutes to failure, you're experiencing heat creep into the cold section of the hot end. This results in the filament swelling inside the cold section and that will cause that particular dog to bark like mad. ;) Is the cooling fan on the cold section working properly?

Re: Barking Extruder - Jams

I wouldn't mess with the flow % - it's not relevant to the extruder skipping problem you've got. The nozzle diameter in Repetier doesn't matter if all you're using it for is to send gcode to the printer.

Re: Barking Extruder - Jams

Ok, I vote for "Barking Extruder" to replace whatever the previous term was - it's so awesome I can no longer remember what it used to be called! :D What is happening is that because the extruder can't push filament through the system quickly enough, the bowden tube and filament are formin...

Re: Worth Upgrading?

Best bang for your buck would be a Duet3D controller and an SE300 hot end (or a hot end of your choice and a Duet Smart Effector).

Re: Firmware not compiling

Yes, 1.6.0 is required. Anything later that that generates problematic binaries, if it works at all.

Re: Looking to upgrade my V1 again

I would re-check your wiring. It would also be a good idea to do a continuity check from each pin in the female header to the corresponding connector on the other end of the cable. I had an SE300 whip with a bad crimp once - it drove me up the wall trying to figure out what had happened. :)

Re: Looking to upgrade my V1 again

The blue LED should only come on when the strain gauge in the PCB is detecting a force being applied to the nozzle. It may also come on solid when the hot end is active as the magnetic field generated by the heater cartridge confuses the hell out of the strain gauge circuit. (this is ok) There shoul...

Those labyrinths are great!

You should be able to print to nearly the edge of the glass, even on the "v0" when it's calibrated properly. What problems are you seeing?

Re: bltouch probe

Ah, ok. This is why the SE300 or Duet Smart Effector is such a good choice - the nozzle IS the probe. :) I don't know if Smoothie board supports those or not though. (the SE300 uses the same circuit as the Duet Smart Effector.)

I suspect those springs are your problem. Even the Rostock MAX v0 didn't use springs under the bed - it was nylon spacers.

Re: bltouch probe

I would really recommend you upgrade to the injection molded carriages and the ball & cup arms. The carriages are clear so they'll match the asthetic of the machine and the carriage/arm combination will take a dramatic amount of "slop" out of the system. Reach out to SeeMeCNC and they ...

Is the firmware you're running have a good auto-calibration system for delta printers? I don't know anything about it.

You're looking at something custom built around a Duet Smart Effector then.
