Re: The Prometheus System - Intuitive Multi-Filament 3D Printing!
So I saw that you have to have the V2 heatsink to connect it up correctly...the machine I'd be putting this in still has a V1, could I add the price of a V2 heatsink to my pledge so I don't have to order and pay shipping separately through your regular shop?

Re: The Prometheus System - Intuitive Multi-Filament 3D Printing!
So a couple of technical questions...you mentioned the Y being custom machined from a HPV PEEK blend, what makes that special? And does the extruder constrain the filament all the way up to the drive gear? If so then flexible materials should be too difficult as long as the bowden is short, like wit...

Re: The Prometheus System - Intuitive Multi-Filament 3D Printing!
So a few weeks ago I emailed Eric about his filament switching tech, since I saw the "hey we're doing a kickstarter soon" notice on the his website and I was curious...I've bought two of his Prometheus hotends and gotten great performance from both, and I'd been thinking about getting some...

Mattercontrol 13 point calibration
Hey all, has anyone used Mattercontrol's 13 point calibration? If so, does it apply a correction to the gcode it generates when it slices files, or does it apply an offset to any gcode, ie will that calibration map work with gcode generated by an external slicer?

Re: Heuristic (AI) calibration for delta printers on Smoothie
So, two questions about this firmware. First, in the instructions on github it says it may take a couple minutes to do the annealing calculations, but when I run G31 HOQR it only takes a couple seconds when it's finished to spit out the results...is something going wrong there? Also, when I actually...

Printer freezing with Pilot626 Firmware
Hey all, I recently helped a friend build a large delta printer using a Smoothieboard 5X as the controller, so naturally I wanted to try out Pilot626's simulated annealing calibration. Unfortunately, while this printer will run just fine on the stock smoothie firmware, when switching to Pilot's (pul...

Motors getting REALLY hot
Hi all! So for the past couple weeks I've had an intermittent problem with layer shifting occurring about an hour into a print. I ruled out mechanical issues, and then checked my stepper motors (all wantai). They're getting blazing hot...too hot to touch for more than a few seconds. I'm guessing tha...

Re: spongy prints with 0.35mm nozzle from SeeMeCNC
It looks like your extruder motor is skipping for sections of the print. Are you using the stock EZstruder? If so, the increase in pressure needed for the smaller nozzle could be maxing out the available torque. Upgrading to a geared extruder would fix it if that is in fact the issue.

Re: Terrible vertical walls
Does it happen when you try to print multiple vertical walls at the same time, like if you print a box? If not, then it's probably a cooling issue. I'd try cranking the speed way down, printing something with multiple walls, and crank the cooling to maximum and seeing how that goes.

Well...damn. I have a copy of S3D, and I've really enjoyed using some of its unique features (setting different settings for certain sections of the print, editable support material, etc), but their legal BS is noxious.

Aside from this particular issue, it looks like you're also overextruding, though it's hard to tell from the angle of the picture.

In terms uber fast printing, the Prometheus does actually have a 1mm nozzle available, and the heater block can be expanded if you choose that configuration. ^^

Re: Under-extrusion on tall prints
The idea behind those upgrades seems to be gearing the motor to increase the torque. So the problem is the torque of the stepper? Not grip on the filament? How does this effect the firmware? I assume at the least I would need to re-calibrate my steps-per-mm ... does anything else need to change? Ri...

Re: Under-extrusion on tall prints
That could be a factor for sure, and a little variance in diameter could be an issue too. There are some good options for upgrades; if you want to pick up a geared nema 17 you can mod the ezstruder or use one of the designs based around that motor. Or if you're pressed for time to get that print don...

Re: Under-extrusion on tall prints
When the hotend is up higher, the filament has to take a more bendy path through the bowden tube, increasing friction. Meaning it needs more pressure to extrude. I'd guess that your extruder motor is getting overwhelmed at those upper areas. Are you running the stock ezstruder, or have you upgraded ...

I had an E3D v5 that never worked well for me with PLA, but I haven't heard of any issues with the v6. After my v5 I picked up a prometheus, which has been fantastic, no complaints whatsoever.

That said, the new stock arms with the ball/cup mechanism look really great, and might actually have better performance in terms of backlash than the traxxas rod ends. If I were you I'd try those out before opting for carbon fiber arms.
