Re: Sudden stop during 1st layer, 0 deg -> Killed

I've been out of the game for a while so I may need an explanation of two: Where do I find logs? I looked through printer settings using LED screen and found nothing. Was considering printing from MatterControl to see if I can find something. I'll try the new repetier firmware but last time I did it...

Re: Sudden stop during 1st layer, 0 deg -> Killed

Hi thanks for the responses. I have no idea how to get the logs but I'll figure that out. I'm using a SD Card, class 10 As soon as the steppers freeze, the temperatures show 0 for the target. Everything starts dropping at that point. It just totally gives up. I can try rotating, but this happens on ...

Sudden stop during 1st layer, 0 deg -> Killed

Hello, can someone help with a weird issue? I have a V2 I've been working with for a long time now. Just recently I began to have this problem where it gets through about half of the first layer then stops dead, in place. 0 Degrees target for both bed and hotend. After a while it says "Killed&q...

Re: Sudden Layer Shift

I've been attempting to figure it out so while I keep looking I'll drop a pic of my stepper motor here. It's the only sticker I found on it: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/h0ibDZqzsqWkvMAkQVkhgIBWZoDnXLdfn9uVAVKRu5KfC4a4Hy8Ho7lnF7o-2pOHEzILQ267dqyXVK0NTt1kHyJ0T5e_96wdnihjKRIJzYOOqBZC9osqSY8OSGhGy...

Thanks guys I will take a look when I get home!

By the way, the print didn't actually lift, just the skirt. I inspected everything and it's perfectly flat. <3 PEI + glue stick

Re: Sudden Layer Shift

Hi Xenocrates, I checked the teeth, all there. Here are my findings so far: 1. The shift is actually happening toward Y + Z, split 50% each way. 2. Belt tension seems to be a little looser on the Y & Z towers. Not terribly different but maybe 25% more play. 3. The print has only the single shift...

Sudden Layer Shift

Hey all, Was hoping you awesome folks could help me out. I was printing this fairly large item yesterday and there ended up being a layer shift about 2 hours in. I've seen this issue once in the past. The print is going 100% perfect for a while then suddenly there is a shift in the layer. This is do...

Re: Best way to Print with Rostock Max 2

Xeno, what slicer do you use? I tried setting up KISS but so far it's been sort of a pain. I loaded the gcode file as a normal file in mattercontrol and it was only the first layer...so something is up. Going to try repetier-host next.

Re: Best way to Print with Rostock Max 2

Is S3D easy to set up for RMaxV2? It's really expensive so I'm a bit hesitant. When I try to use KiSS, I load the gcode into MatterControl and it's usually just 1 layer that shows up...so not sure I should spend that much money on S3D until I learn a litle more :(

Best way to Print with Rostock Max 2

Hi folks, so I've gotten things up and running fairly well...thanks to this awesome community. I'd considered selling the RM2 for a while, just not having the time to really mess with it. Got laid off and poof, with the help of you all it came to life and I've had some decent prints. Now, on to grea...

Re: PLA woes (stringing)

Again, THANK YOU! I really need to take the time to learn what each setting REALLY means. Not just understand the tooltip. I set the min distance to 1, speed to 40, retract dist to 2.5 (recommended by E3d, may up a bit for test), and z-lift to 2 (to start). Wow. Seriously. There are almost no string...

Re: PLA woes (stringing)

Oh derp! Yes that makes sense, the 5mm minimum distance. I've never tried Wipe before retract, though it doesn't have that option in MatterControl if you use CuraEngine, I think. Will try that stuf. Z lift was set to .5 because I read in another post on another site that a high lift adds time betwee...

Re: PLA woes (stringing)

Thanks for that advice! I was over-extruding by a tiny bit. Fixed it! Unfortunately that didn't fix the problem. This time I did Temp: 200 Slicer: MatterSlice (Cura just fails to slice it) Move non-print: 200 Retract: 4mm (2.5mm had same results) Retract Speed: 100mm/s (I just don't see any differen...

PLA woes (stringing)

I finally got my printer printing. ABS is just okay, but PLA is stringy as junk. I have tried a ton of settings and variations based on all the guides I could find on the internet. Always pretty close to the same results: Rostock Max v2 with E3D v6 (new version) Temp: Tried 180 - 200 Move non-print:...

Re: Printing with ABS - A Primer

Your retracts are WAY too fast and much too long. Back it of to 30ish mm/sec and 2mm retract. Add in a 4mm z-lift and make sure your non-printing move speed is around 250mm/sec. g. For PLA and the bowden e3d v6? I just tried your suggestions and I'm still getting a spider web of strings. Wondering ...

Would you mind listing your settings? I'm getting extremely stringy prints. :(

I did something similar and it's pretty rad. But that sleeving looks much nicer!

I threw some shrink tube on the end and it looks pretty decent. I didn't think about using 2 sleeves to incorporate the bowden tube! I might have to redo mine...

Re: RMv2 + E3Dv6 Heating up slowly

Hah! Thanks for the help. I'm currently printing my "first" calibration cube with these new settings. I remember I need to do something with the max z or something to squish the bottom layer to be more solid...looking that up in older threads but other than that I appear to be good to go. ...

Re: RMv2 + E3Dv6 Heating up slowly

the technical support guy at Seemecnc figured it out. My EEPROM was not being updated by uploading the firmware. For some reason my PID Max was set to 4. Not 240 as I had set it. 4.

Testing it now but pretty sure that sounds busted.

Re: RMv2 + E3Dv6 Heating up slowly

Okay now here is some progress: I tested the RAMBO terminal connections at the hot end side and heat bed side. This was directly on the screws that tighten down the thicker gauge wires and say "heat" on the board. Heated bed: The heated bed read 11.88v while I was preheating. Also, it reac...

Here is a photo of how I have the hot-end set up for a disconnect using xt60. I tested voltage by setting "preheat" and touching the two posts running to the RAMBO. http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/bharris990/20170528_083352.jpg Multimeter! http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/...

Re: RMv2 + E3Dv6 Heating up slowly

Autotune, after a few minutes, gave an ERROR: Timed out message.

One last thing: I tested voltage from the hotend while heating up. It registered ~0.33 when set to the 20v test mode. Does that sound right?
