Question about retracts

I have a question that just puzzles me while printing out a iPhone case: During the printout the print head nozzles relocates a couple of times to start printing again. So far so good. I observed that there was some oozing and found out that there was no retract of the filament done. Even worse, the...

Re: Matter control Speed settings not understood

Thanks Xenocrates for your feedback.
The different speed settings definitely have to do with the minimum layer printing time (cool down).
I think now I understood better how the slicer decides what speed to choose....

Re: Matter control Speed settings not understood

I think it has to do with minimum layer printing time, like 40sec. The print seems to be speed reduced at different levels. This explains some of the changes in speed. But still I'm puzzled by the high speed at the bottom of the shroud. There the minimum printing time per layer doesn't seem to be ma...

Matter control Speed settings not understood

I still ask myself why Mattercontrol uses so many different speeds during printing. While I think I understand the speed settings in MC pretty well - I don't understand the logic behind the speed changes in the sliced model. I have printed out my fan shroud again, because I've damaged (=melted parti...

Rostock Max V2 calibration

I just want to share my bed calibration measurement video I've made yesterday. I'm pretty satisfied with the accuracy. Setting the adjustment screws correct was so much more easy compared to 'by eye' adjustment.
Definitely worth the investment of 30$ for the gauge.

Re: 3D App used ?

Don't forget VirtualBox (free). Especially as something just to try out some free software, it's pretty good. I haven't used Parallels for more than a couple of hours before. Use Fusion for work now but after upgrading to V8 this year I asked for a downgrade to V7 and refund because they'd ditched ...

Try printing via the SD Card. Maybe it helps.

I have no idea what can cause this..

Matter control stops in middle of print

I'm using Mattercontrol almost exclusively. So far my experiences are mixed - but still I like it the interface etc. Sometimes I have experienced short stops during print (while the extruder just stopped moving completely) for 2-3 seconds. This happened only 2 or 3 times so far. But today during a p...

Re: Extruder Temp Drops upon starting Print

I don't believe it will damage the PEEK isolator, but it will allow more heat to creep upwards, which will increase drooling of the nozzle, and also likely increase the possibility of jams. I would prefer to wrap the barrel of the hotend in Kapton or silicone tape to decrease the effects of the air...

By the way, what filament materials do you use for the green 'spool' (your user icon) ? I mean the translucent one. Also the transparent one - what is it?

Re: Extruder Temp Drops upon starting Print

Is turning the extruder fan completely off here bad? e.g. does the PEEK isolator above the extruder gets damaged by doing this? I remember printing the fan shrouds in ABS also without the extruder cooling fan. Or another question : how can I reduce the extruder fan speed, e.g. to from 100% down to 6...

Amazing material and very accurate prints as it seems. Can you show the iris box 'assembled' ? Did you design it or is this public available ?

Just a quick question: what 3D software is mostly used in the forum here? I'm wondering what tools you guys use. For myself I'm using Autodesk Fusion 360 and Autodesk 123D Design. :) (on my Mac)

Re: A few new things to share from the HQ

Awesome instruction how to calibrate the hot end. Now I have literally identical temperatures on the thermocouple and the thermistor for the hot end. But how do I calibrate this now for the bed? My bed indicates 80°C, measured value us exactly 70°C. Where can I change the Beta for the Bed? It seems ...

Total Filament Used

I just observed that the total filament usage appears rather high on my Rostock Max V2: Every 1+1/4=5/4 rotations of the white tooth wheel, the usage increases 0.1m As the diameter of the inner filament drive shaft is approx. 12-14mm (just guessing now), I would calculate the feed to just about half...

2 questions: Print time and slicing

I'm using Mattercontrol V1.4 and have two questions: 1. estimated printing time seems often longer than the real printing time. See the attached picture: 1hr 9min real printing vs. 1hr 44min estimated. Why is this so much different? 2. I printed two different shape: one has a lower height the other....
