Re: Rostock Max V3 Build with minor mods

We got the 5:1 planetary stepper for the extruder added, but have held back on printing the more ambitious designs above until we get things tuned in, both so we can print those parts better and also so we can make sure this is the combination of stepper and extruder gear that we want to stick with....

Re: Rostock Max V3 Build with minor mods

(Brother again) Here are snapshots of what is nearly the finalized design for our first prototype of this feeder. I would expect I'll be ready to start printing these parts this weekend (using the OEM stepper and feeder for now). The bowden tube isn't pictured in these photos, but it would come down...

Re: Rostock Max V3 Build with minor mods

(Brother here) Having received the planetary 5:1 stepper for the extruder, it looks like it would get crowded inside the upper platform of the V3, and the extruder stepper generates far more heat than the positional steppers from what I remember, so I thought I'd design up a better way to do this. W...

Re: Rostock Max V3 Build with minor mods

After getting the proper parameters entered for using 0.9 degree steppers and 16T pulleys, and running the bed levelling three times (it was fine after the first), and forgetting to run any extruder tuning, here is the first part I printed out of ABS: http://i.imgur.com/quZ6MO2.jpg http://i.imgur.co...

Re: Rostock Max V3 Build with minor mods

We are currently plugging the printer in and getting ready to fire it up. we seem to have some "bonus" parts that we can't find a reasonable home for, and can't seem to find them in the instructions. Any ideas?

Re: Rostock Max V3 Build with minor mods

We are getting pretty close on the build. I like the retainers on the bowden tube fittings. On the V2 I had found some hairpin clips that fit perfect and I think I posted about it with the E3D Chimera setup. The .9 steppers did not have connectors on the wires so we crimped pins to add the connector...

Mhackney, thank you for such a detailed post! Side note, I meant has anyone built a v3 and have advice as in like just the advice part, I know other people have built them and have build threads, just dont want to seem like I came of as arrogant haha. Rostock Max V3 Build with minor mods

Hello again all, It has been a while since I have been active on the forum, life got busy, major house remodels, new job, heck, I even got married! You know the drill. Long story short, our Max V2 was working awesome, with the .9 degree steppers, 16T pullies, trick laser 325 cf arms, a custom platfo...

Re: OpenDACT(Delta Automatic Calibration Tool) - For Repetie

I believe the probe height parameter is the "start height" for the slower Z move to probe, by having it set to 0, you told the printer to go to Z0.0 and then move Z- until the probe actuates. instead, use like 10 or so for the Z-start. The probe height just tells it what to rapid to and th...

Re: 3D printed rocket contest at MRRF!

My family used to be big into fireworks, (Don't worry we have an ATF license to do this), and my brother and dad used to really be into rockets, and to answer the question, yes, sometimes there is a spectacularly frightening explosion. But that's why we would always produce a batch of rockets made e...

Re: 0.9 Stepper question

I have some questions regarding the stepper current. These are the stepper motors I installed, and they are working just fine currently. (haha get it?) I have gotten past the hurdle of the rapid travel causing the board to reset, by adding a rapid travel to z20.0 at a given speed before starting the...

Re: OpenDACT(Delta Automatic Calibration Tool) - For Repetie

What I did was brought the platform down to the bed, and adjusted the sensor so that it trips when the nozzle touches, such that the sensor is theoretically zero with the nozzle. So you think I should try the FSR option when I get home from work?

Re: OpenDACT(Delta Automatic Calibration Tool) - For Repetie

Other than that all you will have to do is use the FSR setting for the z minimum type So wait, quick question, I have an inductive prox sensor on my platform that "switches" when it "probes" the bed, I have been using the "z-probe" setting. I have the sensor wired in a...

Re: 0.9 Stepper question

G28 G0 Z20 F3000 Yeah i added similar to that in my start g code G28 G90 G0 Z100 F5000 This way it moves down to Z100.0 at a defined speed and then it super rapids from there where it wants to. It's a short enough move that it doesnt have time to build up enough disturbance to reset the board. Matt...

Re: OpenDACT(Delta Automatic Calibration Tool) - For Repetie

Ok, I thought I was getting somewhere and was going to get a successful calibration, and then BAM, my printer has 2.9 mile long diagonal arms... well that seems excessive.... ahhh... there it goes, 19.7 mile long diagonal arms. That's better. Now I can get back to printing my private island Connecte...

Re: 0.9 Stepper question

Right side top looks horrible with 3 layers, probably need to increase the temp That's exactly what the top of mine looked like with 3. I can get mine to print just fine now by "manually" moving to z100. At the start of gcode before rapid-ing to z0, and that seems to bypass the back-emf p...

I dont know how to youtube live so heres my ip cam. i just started a bandaid print too haha tinyurl.com/printerviewer3 I think im getting somewhere. i made my "start g code" go to z 100. so that way it rapids down but not as rapid rapid as it was. Edit/Update: Just kidding. I need to recal...

Re: 0.9 Stepper question

I'll thrown my hat in the ring, either that or my printer... So I followed KAS's footsteps and installed 0.9 steppers with 16T pulleys, yadda yadda yadda, printed the bandaid model he used (before and after), using the same gcode off the sd card to eliminate any change in the print settings. 2015102...

Re: OpenDACT(Delta Automatic Calibration Tool) - For Repetie

I was able to get mine to calibrate quite nicely, i lowered the accuracy tolerance for the height map to .04 i think i started with, just to see if i could get it calibrated successfully at all, and it did. so i went to .035 or so, and did it again. But just going for it with the default .025 (i thi...

Well I got my inductive proximity switch ($4 from amazon ) installed and working as a Z probe, and I think I have the calibration working... sorta.... 20151025_004030.jpg As far as i can tell, the probe is functioning properly, plus it can ride along during prints since it is ~1.5mm above the nozzle...

Re: Yet Another Dual Extruder Design Attempt

Well, we have our chimera installed and working.... kind of.. After fighting with the thermisistors wanting to ground to the hot-blocks and therefore each other, and then breaking one of the heaters, it finally prints, for the most part... We have only done a couple test prints, using only 1 extrude...
