#1 Printed lines in solid layers are not actually solid. Guessing this is E-step related. The gcode seems fine. #2 Extruder motor "ticks" after printing. Triffid says this is the driver overheating Not sure what I'm going to do about that. #3 Prints are undersized. Guessing I need to chang...

Re: Is there a guide for changing filament or hot end?

Oh, actually I mean changing the nozzle.

I am guessing it just gets unscrewed once the filament is removed. Not sure if the Z needs to be recalibrated.

Thanks

Is there a guide for changing filament or hot end?

Granted it would be short. Just checking ahead before I mess soemthing up. Only ever dealt with a non-bowden extruder and a hot-end that was not built to be changed easily.

Thanks!

Do you know of any guide for this? I see the calibration procedure and the guide on Esteps but that's it/

What speeds would you suggest for the stock nozzle?

First prints, with some issues...

Sorry for the poor image quality, these are all really tiny and I do not have a good camera at the moment. Re: Moving and travel with a Rostock Max

When I move mine from place to place, I invert the hot end - move the Cheapskates down to the base one at a time. The arms then form a pyramid of sorts with the the hot end on top. Guarantees the nozzle won't strike the bed. g. I thought of designing a "nozzle-holder" to protect it and th...

Before I reinvent the wheel...

Does anyone know precisely how much "gap" 1/4, 1/2, or 1 full turn of the endstop screw is?

I am guessing someone out there good at math can probably figure this out.

Re: Is checking the towers with a level any good?

Actually, you square up the base of the printer checking on the build surface. Then you check the uprights for level in 2 axis. If both the base build surface is level and the legs are level along the vertical then it's perfectly square. I verified with both a square and with measurements between th...

Display gcode for showing off?

Does anyone have some gcode for moving the device through it's limits to show it off? IE. Friend shows up and says "What's that do?" and you hit Script X and it goes all crazy for a minute then homes again. I want to use it as much for printing as for getting attention during events. Thanks!

Re: Moving and travel with a Rostock Max

I take my machine to a Makerspace almost every week. It's much easier with the EZStruder setup than with the original side mounted Steve's extruder. When it's hot after a print, you can push the lever of the extruder and pull the filament out of it. Then remove the spool (so it's no top-heavy) and ...

Moving and travel with a Rostock Max

Has anyone outfitted one of these printers for easy travel? I am trying to figure out an easy way to move it for travel. Mainly for setups and shows, etc. For moving my house I would just crate it. Thanks! EDIT: I am talking more the best way to "carry" it. the uprights do not seem to be a...

Is checking the towers with a level any good?

I do not like how the squares I have do not seem to be "good enough" for my taste.

So I tried leveling the top of the box, then checking the level of the legs with a framing level. Which seemed to work rather well.

Can anyone think of any reason this would not be a good idea?

Thanks.

Re: Rostock Max assembly

As long as the back or "inner" face of the notches match, you should be fine. The thing you're worried about is whether or not the towers will remain perfectly vertical when they're fully seated into the notches. g. When you built yours were the slots an "exact" match? Just so I...

Rostock Max assembly

Looking at the assembly guide it explains that the two circular plates need to be the same. "The first parts you should check are the machine table (P/N: 63851) and the top support (P/N: 68368). These two parts have three notches in them that the tower extrusions fit into. Make sure that the th...
