Re: Filament spool attched to H-1
Got my bearings and put my stuff together!!! First off, i made some spacers (bushings) to go between the 1/4-20 all thread and the 608 bearings. You need to print these slow with 1 perimeter and multiple at a time. Also I had to use the Z Lift function to keep from nocking the parts off the table. T...

Re: Filament spool attched to H-1
Mike, I printed out one of the 18909 spool adapters last night to take a look at it and so far, so good. I am expecting my bearings in the mail today so once I get those I will post up some pics of the adapters and the bearing spacer I just made and currently printing. Getting some use out of "...

Cool... I will try that one after I test a new spacer designed for 608 bearings to 1/4 rod for my spool adapters.

Mike,
Still waiting for these dang owls to print!!! Once that is done I will give the spool adapter a shot again. If it doesn't work, I think this one will: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:18909

Thanks Mike. I will give that a shot after these Owl's are done printing... Boy did I make a mistake getting talked into that one by my 7 year-old. She thinks scraps are a gift from the gods!

Dave, I have been using CamBam and for your basic CNC machining it does a good job. I looked into more elaborate packages but they were just too complicated for me.

Re: Filament spool attched to H-1
Thanks Mike. How did you do that? The problem I see is that it wants to print the perimeter first (which falls right into the hole) then do the bridge. How many perimeters did you use on the print? I used 3 and I wonder if that was kicked up higher it may work with less slop. I don't see any way to ...

Re: Filament spool attched to H-1
Mike,
Did you use ReplicatorG to make the spool adapters? I can't make them with Slic3r as there is no way to generate support material and it screws up the bearing pocket.
Thanks,

Re: Solid infills - not so solid
Problem solved.... The PS has enough juice... It was that dang 40mm fan I added for PLA printing. There was just enough air current to cool off the plate by dang near 40 degrees F in areas. Turned that off and now have pretty even heating and up to 110c!!! Yes....

Re: Solid infills - not so solid
Chris,
The ABS just begins to stick well but I have noticed I don't have even heating on the glass plate... I have a shift of 15 degrees F in different areas... I think I will run out ot my shop and see if I have another PS to try. More wires to deal with....

Re: Solid infills - not so solid
Yes, had to use business cards but used them under the cardboard insulator so the PCB had no air gaps top or bottom to transfer heat better. I just re-calibrated the whole machine back to inches and testing right now. So far the infills look better but will be a few before I can verify. I also think...

Re: Solid infills - not so solid
Ya, I will try and take a good image and post it. I'm currently trying to get my heatbed leveled, opposite corners of the pyrex glass are not level and it is driving me nuts! Once I get that fixed I will fire off a print and get a picture.

Solid infills - not so solid
I am going nuts here and can't figure it out. For the past week I have not been able to get solid infills (ABS or PLA), there are gaps between the tool paths and I have checked everything (except one, will get to that later). I have re-calibrated the extruder multiple times and can get consistant 10...

Sorry to hear that Chris. Was this the famous load the g-code, move an axis and then his start??? I smashed more endmills and drill bits on my mill till I stuck a huge note on the grease board says "REGEN TOOLPATH!!!!!!!" Once I figured that one out never had a issue since... Now if I can ...

Re: "H-1 Electronics Manual"
Michael, Good stuff!!! Question, do you know the reasoning behind grounding the EasyDriver to the parallel port? I didn't do this with mine and it works fine. Based on the question above, the manual may cause confusion as the wiring diagram on page 26 shows the easydriver ground going to the ground ...

Re: Printing PLA with the H1, Oh crap...
Michael, Printed in ABS with 0.3mm layer height, 1 Perimeter and fill density set to 1. Takes about 8 minutes to print. When you get past the bottom layers and you start to build up the narrow sections you will want to reduce your feedrate down to about 60% to keep the part cool and prevent goobers....

Printing PLA with the H1, Oh crap...
Well I ordered some silver PLA from Protoparadigm and ripped it out of the packaging as i had to see what it would do. I lowered my temp on the extruder to about 365 - 375f. All was good, I was happy till about the 6th layer at 0.3mm. It quit extruding. I tore out the nozzle and the teflon tu...

Re: Where are you buying your filament?
Got my goods from Protoparadigm. All is good, just a UPS ascrew-up is all. The glow in the dark ABS is killer! I turned the lights off while it was printing and the heat from the extruder caused the material to glow coming out. The PLA on the other hand was well, a fricken nightmare... I'm going to ...

Michael,
Where are you measuring your temperature at? Just curious... Talking with John and Steve this morning they stated they measure between the nozzle and the steel section on the hot end. I was measuring on the aluminum section so I was getting higher temps.
