Larry and son

I haven't been posting much (too busy printing! :)), but here's something i was messing around with over the weekend. A friend of mine is a big gnome fan (no pun intended lol). So I printed a couple up for him.

Re: Rov Track guid link

I've been printing a lot of tread links lately (for a different bot: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:114349) and one word of advice I have for you is to print a few links, assemble them, and match them up with with the drive gears and/or bearings. I discovered after printing all 106 tread links tha...

I've got two. The first I got from EZ robot, the second I just got recently from Makershed.com for a sizable discount. You can't buy from EZ right now as they are getting ready to release a new kit soon.

Re: Roberta 1

If I can get the tread tension adjusted correctly I will be able to finish assembly by adding the ultrasonic sensor and camera.

Re: Roberta 1

John, it's an EZ Robot based bot where the main logic board is controlled by a host program via bluetooth. I have some pink ABS, but after I printed the first 106 tread links in and then discovered that I needed to scale the z height on them a bit I ended up printing them in white which is what I ha...

Re: Roberta 1

@John - calling her Roberta 1 because that was better than "Robot 1", originally the treads were pink too.

Roberta 1

She's no Caprica 6, but Roberta 1 is almost mobile. The thrust bearings were a pain to get printed correctly, but they work great. This bot is based on this: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:114349

Try switching pins 1 and 2, that should reverse the direction.

Re: Not perfect..but getting much better

You are correct about the kits, I actually have two kits and want to use one with the Traxbot. EZ now has an online repository of snap together parts that can be 3D printed. When I went to the EZ site, I couldn't find anything for sale. Don't know what's up with that. They must be getting ready for...

Re: E3D V4 All metal hotend

I've purchased two E3d hotends as well as some misc. parts. In my experience Sanjay and David have gone out of their way to make sure I (and others) am a satisfied customer. It does take a while to get the items from the UK to the US. I always got a reply from them whenever I had a problem and commu...

Not perfect..but getting much better

So I've had my printer together for a few months now and I finally feel like I'm starting to get the kind of output I was looking for when I started building my Rostock Max. In between printing parts for a robot my wife has asked for several things. This is the latest - a great back-scratcher from t...

Re: E3D V4 All metal hotend

Personally I use a screw in thermistor on the E3d and the stock hot-end. I had a terrible time trying to get the ones I used RTV, or kapton tape, to affix to the hotend to stay put. Also it's a lot easier for me to remove them if I want to move the same thermistor to a new hotend.

Re: RAMBO 120mm Cooling Fan

I have it wired so that it runs whenever the printer is on. So I'm stuck with my RAMBo on the door - my internal segments didn't have any mounting holes for it. I hate it there, did you drill your own holes? Hmm, no there were already holes there to mount the board. Actually I believe there were ho...

Re: RAMBO 120mm Cooling Fan

Not sure if you've done this or not, but I added some small heatsinks to the back of the RAMBo where the stepper motor connections are and then using some of the extra nylon spacers that came with the kit as spacers mounted the board with some clearance on the back. I have a fan mounted to the door...

I would check to make sure you have the correct board selected (Mega 2560). I had a similar error and had forgotten to ensure that the correct board was selected.

Twisted

I finally tried one of these twisty vase things. I wanted to bump up my print speed to see how the printer would perform at a higher print rate (for me). I printed this at 60mms. I also tested some acetone vapor smoothing on this too - put it in a covered sauce pan sitting on a canning jar lid and s...

Re: Captain Jack's Rum-Max build!

Yoho Capt. Jack. Let's palaver. I too had the same black marks on my Z tower. Took me a long time to figure out it was the nuts to the bolts that hold the belt clips on. They're the ones that bite into the melomine. Mine hadn't clamped all the way into the material and were rubbing against the tower...

Re: Help - top mount EZstruder

This is exactly what I needed. Thanks. Now what about the heater/fan/temp wires going to the hotend? No longer braced against the Bowden tube, they move around a lot, and that's no good. It will probably work-harden the wires and either break them or hose up one of the solder joints. What is everyo...
