Re: strange build artifacts, how do I avoid them?

Ok, next time I print, I'll lower the temperature, increase the retraction, and increase the non-build movement speed, thanks.

What's the best way to clean a nozzle?
Do I need a tiny reamer?

strange build artifacts, how do I avoid them?

Hi everyone, I've been having an issue with my prints where I'll get weird features added that make these "strings" which get built up at about 45 degrees to the build direction (build direction indicated with an arrow in the image): IMG_20170730_103938_LI.jpg There's nothing strange in th...

trying to print a thin hemispherical shell on my Rostock Max v3

Hi everyone, I'm trying to print a hemisphere with fingers extending from 5 degrees above the equator to 5 degrees below the equator to mesh with a second hemisphere once two are printed. I've been a bit ambitious with this one, and I'm trying to use only a single layer of extrusion to print the who...

Re: print in the wrong spot with slic3r

I managed to get a print going with slic3r by exporting the gcode from MatterControl (using the slic3r back end) and then using the following code to subtract 100 from both X and Y: #! /usr/bin/env python infile=open('zero_zero.gcode', 'r') for line in infile.readlines(): newline = "" if '...

Re: print in the wrong spot with slic3r

There is a setting you missed in Slic3r telling it where the center of the bed is. I believe they describe it as bed offset, and it needs to be set at x=0 and y=0 In MatterControl that's listed under Settings&Controls->Settings->Printer->PrintArea Unfortunately, although setting this to 100, 10...

Re: print in the wrong spot with slic3r

Download Slic3r as a standalone program and import the gcode. The integration of the bed shape settings in MC still isn't correct. OK, I have slic3r installed on my linux machine now. . . I don't have a graphical front-end, but I should be able to figure out how to do what I need from the command-l...

Re: Extrusion problems with your HE280 equipped printer? READ ME!

Using this method, I have hopefully solved the seating issue with my bowden tube. Is there a way to tell that the problem is solved without taking it back off?

That is, what are the symptoms that point at an improperly seated bowden tube?

Thanks.

Re: Rostock Max v3 initial startup Thermistor problems?

It took me a while to troubleshoot my thermistors, but I did eventually manage, so there's hope. Here are some tests I found useful: 1. Swap where the hot end and bed thermistors are plugged into the board, this won't solve the problem, but you should see the 5.1 on the bed instead of the hot end fi...

print in the wrong spot with slic3r

Hi everyone, I've been having trouble getting models with thin walls to print well in MatterSlice, looking at the Layers view in the viewer in MatterControl it starts/ends each layer in the same spot, resulting in a gap in the printed part. I managed to get some good looki...

Re: bad temperature readings on Rostock max v3

It's very unlikely you have 2 bad thermistors. It's likely that there is a short in the wiring somewhere, I know I had a bed thermistor read very high at room temperature, when one of it's legs was touching an exposed metal piece on the beds heating element. You can do the same thing if the thermis...

bad temperature readings on Rostock max v3

Hi, I'm trying to get started with my newly assembled Rostock max v3, but I'm having a nightmare getting reliable temperature measurements from the thermistors. Right now, the hot-end is reading room-tempaerature as 90C, and the bed is reading room temperature as 167C, the actual room temperature is...
