Rostock Max V3 w/ updgrades, needs debugging
Hello all, I'm about to move cross-country and never got around to fixing the intermittent controller/movement bug that I'm fairly certain is linked to the whip wiring. In any case, the printer currently has: -.25" thick MIC6 aluminum heatspreader/buildplate topped with PEI -E3D v6 effector + h...

Re: Hotend fan issue?
That was my assumption - I just pulled the PCB and there seems to be a short between the hotend supply wires, though I can't immediately see anything externally bridged. Is there a schematic for the PCB anywhere? I don't see it on the git.

Hotend fan issue?
I'm suddenly having issues with the hotend fan on my RMv3. As in, if I leave it plugged in the printer doesn't advance past the firmware version screen on the LCD at boot. Unplugging the fan immediately cures the problem. I do have an e3d v6 running with the he280 pcb, and I did just do a nozzle cha...

I haven't found the actual difference from last night and I've got some material tweaking to do...but I'm printing! Thank you, good sir!

Re: KISSslicer issue
Sounds like you have Absolute E set in Printer->Firmware on the Firmware Type drop down. Choose 5D - Relative E Thanks for the reply! I tried Relative E as well (which was the original setting) and was getting zero motion on the extruder motor  I'll give it another go when I get home in a few ...

KISSslicer issue
Hey all, I decided to give KISSslicer a try last night on a model that's just not slicing properly in Cura. I pulled mhackney's .ini files off of the RMv3 sticky post, and when the print begins, the extruder starts spinning rapidly and non-stop, completely stripping/grinding the filament. Is there a...

Re: Need help with Rostock Max v3 Cura setup
In your printer setup page, make sure to check the "Machine Cetner is Zero" box - that should move Cura's origin to the center of the bed.

Hello, fellow PNW'er! I'm also new to the club, but my V3 is working a treat so far. Enjoy and congrats!

Re: Strange bed heater behavior
I finally got around to some printing last night and got this figured out - I had been only using three of the six swivel clips since they were all in a bit too tight, and I think this was causing an air gap between the onyx bed and glass. I gave the glass a good cleaning and set all six clips to a ...

Re: Strange bed heater behavior
Thanks for the reply! I've had a massively busy few days at work so haven't had a chance to do much involving the printer :/ Anyhow, last night I powered it up and set the bed target to 70 and left it there for ~20 minutes with no issues. I'm wondering if my original problem may have been due to hav...

Strange bed heater behavior
Hi all, I've been dialing in my settings and really loving the printer so far. Tonight I went and started a PETG print and noticed that the heated bed hit the 70C target, stayed there for five minutes while printing, and then started to cool. While it was dropping I tried setting the temp slightly l...

Re: Adding RasPi Later
I had a printed case for my Pi3 from another project, so I just hacked apart a microUSB cable to connect to the aux5V on the RAMBO and stuffed the case on in there. Works great!

Re: Buildy McBuildface
An email from JJ confirmed that my hotend thermistor was the culprit...a little fancy maneuvering with some tweezers and a little solder magic and the second one from the kit is doing its job admirably. I'm guessing it was just a goof-up on the bowden tube length, so I'm still cheating the extruder ...

Re: Buildy McBuildface
Build (mostly) complete! I still have to affix some of the side panels, and I wouldn't mind tidying the wiring a bit but otherwise it's all together. Two issues, though. 1) The PTFE bowden tube is a few inches too short! Has anyone else had this happen? If I butt the tube all the way up into the ext...

Re: Buildy McBuildface
I wound up borrowing a ratcheting crimper from work, so problem solved. And then we got hit with a bunch of snow, so I was able to spend a good amount of time at home yesterday and I'm already into the final assembly. Huzzah!

Re: Buildy McBuildface
That's a fair point - thanks for bringing it up. I likely have some 10/90 solder in my box from, oddly enough, some work with tubes I'll have to check tonight when I get in.

Buildy McBuildface
My RMv3 kit finally showed up last night! I could only spare a little over an hour so I tore into the first couple of steps of getting the whip put together and then onto the hotend build. So far, mostly smooth save for the crimp ferrules not wanting to stay crimped. Is it a terrible idea to just so...

Hello all!
I'm a longtime builder/tinkerer with a nasty habit of spending too much time at my engineering job :D I had my first brush with 3D printing many years ago in a university setting, but never thought about getting my own until a couple of months ago. Enter the Monoprice Maker Select v2.1 - I ordered a...
