Re: JT's H-1 build log and mods
I am with you on that one Ressie! I burned mine up before first squirt as well!! In my case I believe it was a bad thermistor, put a new one in and away she went. I would sure like to verify what the extra resistor is before I drop it in,which means now I have to find it, but it would be good info t...

Re: Q: about Velleman
I do not know how well it works yet, but will post soon in my build thread if it is successful. I do like the one piece design rather than the 2 piece. But what "really" sparked this mod is that I got my hotend "sort-of" dialed in, and then proceeded to drop the nozzle on my conc...

Re: JT's H-1 build log and mods
update: Got the new thermostat and it works....just like the first one. Which I thought was strange that it just started ramping up right when I turned it on even after the thermistor and heating resistors were isolated, but I put it all back together and cranked it up and it maxed out about 185c w/...

Re: Q: about Velleman
Thanks Zaphod, I finally just turned it on and let it warm up, with a 10kohm resistor it levels out at about 185c, might have to play with that resistor value a bit, but I am going to be running 1.75abs. Right now I have the new Seemecnc 3mm hot end and have retrofitted it for 1.75 filament. It real...

Q: about Velleman
Is it normal for it to turn on with the pot turned all the way down?
I have done the resistor swap for the hot end (10kohm on R5)
It turns on as soon as I put 12V to it.

I have been to their facility in Rancho, Went there to test the double density testers.
I worked on the machines for about 5yrs till the company I worked for decided to move their facility to Malaysia.
I have had to load fixtures too, lots of fun haha

Re: Schematic for Velleman MK138 Temperature Controller Boar
This thread is kinda confusing.
You short out R5 to use the thermostat with the heated bed(this is clear)
And you replace R5 with 10-18K resistor for use with the hot end?
Then if you use the included thermistor from the H1 kit you have to go back and short out R6.(this is clear as mud)

I tested the hot end for any shorts, its good. I am just curious why it took off without even turning it up. Got another one on the way so will try again when it gets here.

Re: JT's H-1 build log and mods
Well, finally got all my wiring completed, and some little things buttoned up, finally got around to testing my hot end, turned the switch on with the pot all the way down, got called out of the shop by the kids for no more than a min and when I came back my nozzle was hanging off and all melted :x ...

Sweet! I used to work on ECT double sided bed 'o' nails testers. I hated troubleshooting the double density testers though.

Hoss, that statement was not meant to be disrespectful. Take it any way you want though as you have done in the past.
Was the KMA really necessary? Why such hostility?
Anyway, I hope you can gain some mobility to access your basement machine shop.

Re: I now own a mini CNC router and a 3D printer
How will you keep air out of the mix with the pellets, compress them with a screw in the middle zone? Most injection molders I have worked on in the past (Van Dorn's and Cincinatti's) have a "shot" of plastic molten ready to inject before it gets to the nozzle. Your Z mod looks fantastic! ...

Re: extruder randomly clicks like its stuck
I dont really have a torque issue on my ED, I havent extruded anything yet but I tried to stall it by hand when I was reading about Michael's issues with the ED. It was pretty difficult to get it to stall grabbing the large gears by hand. That was with the ED stock setting I did not adjust the pot a...

Re: JT's H-1 build log and mods
Thanks Lee!
I will run mine that way as well. I think it will be easier to do the strain relief, and there is not much room under the H1 table (clearance at full travel) . How much room does the prusa have between the all thread and table at full travel?

Re: JT's H-1 build log and mods
I think I read somewhere that if you use a glass top you can run the MK1 heated bed with the soldermask side down, trace side up for more consistent heating?
Can anybody confirm this? I cant find the info any more.

Ditto on the R values. It is a pretty significant spec.

Re: JT's H-1 build log and mods
Wow, how thick is that? I am using some glass filled paper insulation, a couple layers. The AL. plate sits about .25 off the original bed, I might tape another layer or two under the AL. plate aove the stock table.
