Re: H-1 X-axis carriage

Of course, like all good ideas, someone else had this first! :-) Here I see a very nice looking design by a member here for a new X carriage that accepts 8mm bearings, has fan bracket, etc. http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=684&p=2307&hilit=8mm+rod#p2307 Anyone try this carr...

Re: H-1 X-axis carriage

no one? C'mon people do still have H-1's right ? :) I just finished constructing my H-1 earlier this year (bought the kit June 2012, then life intervened...) I am also interested in an upgraded X-axis carriage assembly. I've been thinking a lot about how it might be easy enough to swap out the 90 d...

Re: H-1 Extruder Slippage

Thanks to both of you for the replies. My upgraded nylon pieces arrived today, and I did teardown and rebuild of the extruder this evening - this time paying extra special attention to the step about sanding the small face of the combination gear to spin freely when loaded. That seemed to help a LOT...

H-1 Extruder Slippage

I'm making some progress again with my H-1, but seem to be running into problems with the Direct Drive Steve's Extruder - it seems to "slip" a lot, particularly when feeding at low rates. The large white reduction gears, outside the frame, are turning fine - but the metal rollers do not al...

Re: H-1 build finished - firmware/host Q's

Thank you, thank you! I'm (reasonably) calibrated now - getting as close to 10mm/10mm as I can measure with my calipers. Your comment about measuring the movement was right on - I had to get quite creative to measure Z in particular. I'll follow the commissioning steps - that seems to be the (large)...

Re: H-1 build finished - firmware/host Q's

Thank you for the quick reply! IN the meantime, I was experimenting with sprinter+pronterface. Fun to watch the head move around :-) First off - I think my steps/mm are wonky - things are much larger than I think they should be. For the H-1 with RAMPS jumpered for 1/16 step, what are proper number o...

H-1 build finished - firmware/host Q's

I finally, after several months, got a chance to assemble my H-1 (family/life intruded). I'm using the RAMPS 1.4 controller supplied with my kit, and I'm pretty sure all is "working" - the RAMPS test program worked. I've brailed my way through the sprinter configuration, adapted for my end...
