Re: Dermot's RMv2 Build

That is one high speed build! A very good job. Did you figure out what was happening to your thermistors? Cheers, it's actually spread out over several weeks. I think my shirt changes about 6 times. Also, who knew I was so fat? Wow. The thermistor issue has been <cough> not the top of my priority l...

Hmm, produces a white box instead of a working embed, but maybe my browser has lost its mind. Either way, links's still there.

Re: Unstable thermistor readings/values from RAMBo 1.3

I do also have a support ticket open and I've linked them to this thread, they're sending me a new LCD screen and adapter board to test, I'll update this thread when I hear more from them/make any progress on my printer. I'll be very interested to see how the different display works out. I'm slight...

Re: Unstable thermistor readings/values from RAMBo 1.3

I'm having nearly an identical problem with my Rostock, the temperatures are pretty stable when everything is powered down but can fluctuate as much as +/- 8 degrees when running, regardless of how many times I tune it. My SD card reader is also giving me all sorts of problems, I'll be watching thi...

I do (a box of 'em), and I will, though not until I've got a scope hooked up. I intend to document the fix with some rigor, if indeed one is available.

Re: Unstable thermistor readings/values from RAMBo 1.3

Right, brief update; SeeMeCNC replaced my RAMBo without any hassle (like the rockstars they are) and you'd think that'd be the end of that right? Nope. It actually looks now like the one thing I didn't pull off the board during testing may be the culprit; the display/encoder/SD card reader module! W...

Re: Total Filament Used

There was another thread on this, and it does seem high. I did actually look at the source code and the logic seems reasonable. It's just recording the steps sent to the extruder and multiplying through, the only odd piece of logic is when that data is committed to EEPROM, it's possible if the prin...

Loose connector, capacitors don't get hot like that. Well, not for very long, and you can tell they did because of the exciting bang they make very soon after they start ;-)

Re: My Max just blipped off and won't turn back on

Whoa, 30 amps? I don't even have a circuit in my house that can supply 30 amps (they're all 20 amp service). Beyond the heated bed - I'm assuming 12amps is peak load - just how much beyond that do the hot end, electronics, and steppers need? Well, 30amps at 12 V, is only about 3 amps at 110v from y...

I haven't invested as much time in the question, but I was quite surprised at my indicated filament usage (~70m in ~11 hours of printing, alas my RAMBO just got shipped back to SeeMeCNC for diagnosis or I'd look up exact figures. It's plausible alright, but it felt a little high. I should go measure...

Re: Unstable thermistor readings/values from RAMBo 1.3

Agreed, I don't necessarily expect SeeMe to fix the bug (if indeed it is a bug, I should probably delve into the source), but it's a brand new board in a brand new printer so I need to at least make them _aware_ of what's going on, as they have warranty responsibility for board as it currently stand...

Re: Unstable thermistor readings/values from RAMBo 1.3

Alright, so how's this for system isolation; RAMBo sitting naked on the Healing Bench, connected solely to the display, the two thermistors, and some random 2A 12V DC wall wart connected to the B power input (Logic, Heaters and Fans), with the other two power inputs left unconnected. Behavior is int...

Re: Horizontal Banding, or Z-Ribbing investigated. [SOLVED!]

Too funny, I spotted the bed temps dropping when the PSU fan came on and reasoned that it must be an airflow coming through the hole under the bed. I taped up the two holes last night. With any luck I've headed that one off at the pass.

Re: Unstable thermistor readings/values from RAMBo 1.3

Frankly IME the autotune in repetier might as well be a random number generator. I usually run it then fiddle with the values manually to dial them in, once dialed in, I never touch them unless there is an issue. My hotend holds +/- 0.2 degrees at every temperature between 160 and 260 degrees, but ...

Unstable thermistor readings/values from RAMBo 1.3

Just finished my building my mid-January 2016 Rostock Max V2 (latest version, I believe, with the fancy new PSU and the new arms) and there's _something_ not quite right about my thermistor behavior. I'm getting jumpy readings from both nozzle and bed thermistors, both when they're up at operating t...

Re: Dermot's RMv2 Build

Powered up again this morning from cold hoping for a repeat of Monday morning's stable readings. Sadly no such luck, still looking jumpy, still won't give rational calibration numbers :-/ Folks with RAMBo 1.3 machines, can you tell me how stable your thermistor readings are at room temperature? I co...

Right. The guinea pig butt-warmer build is complete; IMG_5327.JPG Seems a bit over-engineered to me but they're pleased with it. The rest of the assembly went smoothly. My label maker got a proper workout. The commissioning of the software went very smoothly (though MatterControl seems to be buggy a...

Re: Popping noise and voids

Well, at any rate it's a bit damp. The pops are absorbed humidity in the filament itself, this is why it's so important to keep it in a very very dry place when you aren't using it. If you have a very dry place (enclosed water heater closet for example) you can likely dry it out over the course of a...

Re: First Print, Critiques and advice wanted!

Well, I don't know my arse from my elbow yet, but if that were my first print, I would be _exceedingly_ proud of myself. No obvious voids, very little cobweb, tidy overhang with no obvious droop. Doesn't even look like you've cleaned it up yet so it should be even better when you have. Well done.

You guys (and gals doubtless) are all just great. In an attempt not to drown out the board with inanity I'm going quiet until I have some _actual_ _progress_ to report :-/

Meeting my biological imperative, while rewarding in many many ways, has been hard on my discretionary time.
