Max v2 hot end problem & upgrade

So I've had this machine since 2015 and its given me lots of good prints and absolutely no trouble...until the past few weeks. The hot end will not reach the required temp & stays about 5 to 8 degrees below set temp. No mater what the setting is, 195 , 200, 210 its stays at that delta below the set ...

Re: Location of Extra Wiring

Well I finished installing some extra wiring channels this weekend. I used Tincho85's idea (thanks) and added a couple of things. Used 3/4" (19mm) square aluminium tubes to give me LOTS of extra space. As I mentioned before I moved them to behind the X and Y towers since the Max V2 seems to hav...

Re: Location of Extra Wiring

Tincho85, That looks very good and seems easy to do. I like that the square tubing appears similar to the square tower legs so they do not look like obvious add-ons. I'll have to find a different place to put them though, since the V2 has more vent slotting around the Z-tower than the V1 it appears,...

Re: Location of Extra Wiring

I didn't see anything like that on the Tricklaser website which is unfortunate...I likely will purchase the LED ring from there.

Location of Extra Wiring

I've reached a point where I'm actively planning to add another extruder, fans and maybe some LED lights to the hot-end carriage. During the initial build I thought I would be clever and install extra wiring for this future upgrade but I found that it was impossible to get more than the minimum requ...

Re: MC1.5 Strange Object Location

Ah yes...Slic3r versus MatterSlicer. I neglected to check that.

Thanks

MC1.5 Strange Object Location

I just installed MatterControl 1.5, loaded a small test object and immediately ran into some strange behaviour. The object was correctly placed at 0,0 on a circular bed but after slicing it was moved off the edge of the bed. As well, in 2D Layer View the sliced object was placed far from the center ...

Re: Printing Very Skinny Parts

Thanks everyone for your quick, thoughtful replies! My layer fan was on and I had set the layer time to 10 seconds but everyone who mentioned it is right I believe... its the constant contact of the nozzle of the with the plastic that is the big problem. I will try both suggestions to alleviate this...

Printing Very Skinny Parts

Was trying to print the top section of the gCreate 50's rocketship. It has a very skinny probe/pint to this part. The print was great until it got to the skinny part as seen in the first photo. Appeared to be overextruding. I could see the noozle mushing around in the soft plastic so during this pri...

Re: Dean's Rostock Max v2 build

For #3 I believe it is the screws. I had exactly the same problem except 2 went in no problem and 2 bound up. One twisted off.

Attached is a photo of one that was left over. You can see the threads are OK at the starting end but then get smushed up

Re: Almost completed but a fastener problem

So the screws from Lee Valley worked great. I like the brass finish next to the black Onyx. I might add some other brass-paint accents to the main body (black melamine)! They only protrude about 1/8" from the T-nuts and they're tucked closely behind the base mounting panels so there is nothing ...

Almost completed but a fastener problem

I am closing in on the last few things to complete my machine. I had hoped to start calibrating this weekend but I've run into a problem with the bed fasteners. The kit has gone together very well for the most part but every issue I've had was a problem caused by the supplied fasteners (or not suppl...

Hello from Alberta, Canada

I just received my Rostock Max V2. But have to leave on holidays before I can get it put together. It will be a nice treat to come back to in the new year though! I will say I am very impressed with the packaging and details of this kit that I have seen. Even the shipping people remarked how nice it...
