What's it worth?

I enjoyed assembling my Max and printing 15-20 items over a couple years, but it's just sitting gathering dust. Curious what is worth, I've actually had a Craigslist ad at $100 and it's not selling. It's functional (last time I built BB8), extra tip, 4 or 5 small rolls of string, cabinet. Seems I sh...

Same gcode. Just odd one seems to accumulate E values and one doesn't. Is that amount of material? I think the .15 values look like the "squirt". G1 X-40.36 Y-2.749 E0.01095 G1 X-40.856 Y-5.872 E0.15958 G1 X-40.941 Y-6.657 E0.03985 G1 X-40.945 Y-7.446 E0.03982 G1 X-40.87 Y-8.232 E0.03985 G...

Re: Cura 3.1

I can't seem to get Cura to send proper gcode to print from Mattercontrol. I find Cura easier to use (STL to Gcode), but have MC setup on my laptop to my printer. I have gcode flavor set to Reprap. I just exported a Reprap, and a Marlin file and attached the beginning. The print seems to squirt and ...

Cura 3.1

I usually just use Cura for gcode production. Now that I have my laptop network working, it's plugged into my Max v2. Normally I use Mattercontrol to control the printer (USB). If I want to try Cura, and I hit "upgrade firmware" in printer settings, will it screw anything up? I'm finding t...

Small clip

What's the best way to program this part so the top surface comes out smoother? I've tried concentric and linear, but top surface has gapps and even a small hole on every layer (there is a .04 hole, but one about .02 not wanted). Used Slicer. More overlap perhaps? https://www.dropbox.com/s/zzdu1sz4r...

Top Layer

Just ran a part (lounge chair coaster) I created in FreeCad and G-code created with Slic3r. The surface with the "C" is flat, yet it printed very rough with oddball "tracks". Would I be better off trying Cura, or different settings? .2 layers, 3 solid Top/bottom layers, 25% infil...

I used Slic3r for this clip. For some reason layer 1 is not filling in solid. Is this normal, or am I missing a setting?

Cura 15.04.4

Just noticed this on their site. My 04.3 says no update available, and 04.4 installs as a fresh install (leaving 04.3). Seems odd, has this always been the case? Nothing looks any different.

Testing out posting from my phone. Had an issue with my browser, but just switched to Firefox which let me log in. Uploading 2 pictures, 1st is my v2 build, second is my phone homescreen (what I hope it will look like after painting). Notice the date/time at top of screen... discovered an emojis.

Just ran a couple parts with Cura (been using Slic3r), both stand alone, save gcode run through MatterControl. Part 1: Test blocks, three 10mm dia cylinder and a 10mm cube, no supports. Slic3r: Cube ended up 10.25x10.24x10.15 (28 minutes) Cura: Cube ended up 10.03x10.02x10.01 (17 minutes) Similar re...

Re: Help with retraction

I'm having pretty good luck with ABS with 3mm @ 180mm/s, .2 Z lift, 0 and 0 on next 2 items, retract checked, no wipe. I've read that the higher retraction rate tends to minimize strings. I tried a 40mm/s rate and got stringing between parts, 180 seemed to fix it. Using Hatchbox white if that matter...

Re: PEI Print Surface How To - recap

Bot, I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for pushing the envelope on this. .03" 12x12 is $16 and a 6 pack of 12x12 468M tape is $16. That's quite a bit less than $60 and you have 5 sheets of tape to experiment with, use on other printers or sell. I'm still going to try the 1/8" but it is n...

Recorder (ABS)

Made this yesterday, causing an EZstruder jam about 15 minutes before completion. Edited STL and ran the last 10 mm and glued it on. Probably run another since it actually sounds very good. Est 7 hrs, took just over 6 (Slic3r). http://www.thingiverse.com/make:179647" onclick="window.open(t...

Re: Clogged Nozzle

Turns out it wasn't a hotend clog. While removing nozzle I noticed filament wouldn't budge through the filament tensioner. Wouldn't move in either direction with quite a lot of force (with lever pressed). Will be taking it apart this morning. Here's a photo (leaving clear cover off really helps so b...

Re: Clogged Nozzle

Thanks! Think I'll order a spare nozzle for my stock hot end for now, and work on cleaning tomorrow. I don't print a lot, but mostly ABS (only ABS to date).

I had a retract of 5.4 and Z lift of .2. It does solve stringing, but I think I'd rather have strings than clogged nozzle!

Clogged Nozzle

On about my 4th print (tall recorder-flute), and at about the last 3/8" the ABS quit coming out of the nozzle (maybe 15 minutes before the end of a 7 hour print). Nozzle at 230c. What would cause a random blockage? Hatchbox Red ABS. Best way to unclog? (I've read about a torch, sounds scary.). ...

Do you have the stl files? I only see a 1 piece BB-8 at Thinkgiverse. Looks great! Running a musicbox today for a birthday gift. Coming out OK (but getting lots of strings between pieces).

Re: Will Max print this?

Thanks, that looks good in a viewer. I had tried the "open" one and even though the mods were on the 3D screen, it printed it as if they were not there. I'll try your file next. Going to try it with Cura slicer, MatterSlice vastly underestimated build time (23 min est, 45 min actual). By t...
