Re: Impressions: Duet vs. Smoothie

Now that it's been a couple years since the write-up would the comparison still lean towards Duet or is Smoothie holding its own? In addition to my RMv2, I have a Tevo Little Monster which came with a Smoothie. It would appear people are flocking to convert it to DuetWifi. Updated thoughts?!

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!

...Or SeeMeCNC can slightly redesign their red levers, although this option may be unlikely due to the already sunk investment in their injection molds. Since they do their molding in house, it might be a worthy investment to tweak. I can't feed anything with it, useless. I was blaming the PrintBit...

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!

Oh phew.. glad I'm not the only one that noticed the pinch point needing modification (seems flipped, should be more bite, not more roller). I got frustrated and swapped back to my old extruder that was working fine.

Re: Printer stop by half

I just noticed your pic had different heights.. do'h! Could try uploading the model to https://makeprintable.com/ to see if the model is decent to start with.

Re: Printer stop by half

Perhaps the max print height isn't set properly...? Those unfinished prints, I've tossed the model into Tinkercad and removed the printed portion to print only the remaining top. If it's ABS, you can acetone weld the pieces together. I haven't found a good means to weld PLA together chemically, I ju...

Re: PSU Insufficient for 30watt e3d v6 upgrade?

Ok, looking at the Configuration.h file the following was present // maximum time the heater is can be switched on. Max = 255. Overridden if EEPROM activated. #define EXT0_PID_MAX 295 WTF?! Did I fat finger something when I reflashed after the install? Noooo clue. I'm assuming that maps to the displ...

Re: PSU Insufficient for 30watt e3d v6 upgrade?

Side of the barrel on the element is 12V. I'm reading about 7 ohms which I happen to notice is the same reading on the stock hot end so this makes no sense. The EXT0_TEMPSENSOR_TYPE was set to 8. Thermistor is 70.8kohms @ 28C. For giggles, I manually set the temp to 200 and after about 20 minutes it...

PSU Insufficient for 30watt e3d v6 upgrade?

Recently purchased an e3d v6 which arrived with a 30watt element. Tuning, it only reaches 120 max in 10 min so it fails. The stock never had those issues, rather it failed initially by exceeding the temp too quickly. Coincidentally, I purchased the v6/volcano pack directly from e3d which came with t...

Re: Anyone printing Taulman Alloy 910 on stock hot end?

Might be a stale thread, but for posterity sake, I've printed several pieces out of 910 with the stock hot end running at basically ABS settings with temps at 240 (bed at 50 with hairspray). Since I was printing parts with fairly high infills (80-90%), you certainly want to wait till the piece cools...

Finally Introducing Myself

Bout time I get acquainted with the community. Greetings! Ok, back to printing. Colleague at work inspired me to pull the trigger on getting a 3D printer. Scouring the interwebs researching various options, I ordered the Rostock Max v2 back in Nov 2015 along with a ton of plastic. He and I traveled ...
