Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

I have a Prometheus V1 on a Rostock Max V1. The Prometheus requires more pressure to extrude than the stock hotend, and I had occasional issues with skipping with the default ezstruder. I ended up moving to a geared extruder, and things have been great ever since. That waviness is in your last vid ...

Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

Photo gloss paper is WAY too thick. (If I'm thinking of the same stuff). Use 20lb bond notebook paper, nothing thicker than that. I've also used that thin, wispy paper that credit card receipts are printed on. g. Wow! A few things... 1) It is printing (like it use to). I am not sure what happened w...

Nope.

Ok..

Now I am changing filament from the SeeMeCNC to the local Microcenter brand stuff, and going to give that a try.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

Ok... Fixed now. Both legs have been officially broke and repaired! Record time of reinstalling everything. Just did a new Z-Height calibration and doing a new PID Autotune. Next comes the moment of truth.. (BTW: This is one of the reasons for my grumpiness - not an excuse - just contribut...

Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

This is why I hate life (mine) {EDIT} Sorry for the RANT, whomever saw it. I appreciate all the help given here. I am just extremely anxious and tired with the many, many challenges I have had and ill fated luck that has hit me. I was trying to be very careful, yet due to the multiple on/off/on/off ...

Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

Surgery is done... I didn't snap a pic of it not-installed, but it looks identical to the one KAS has on his thread. Here it is installed: Notice the 2.00 mm Gap: And the 3rd nut: [img]https://farm1.staticflickr.com/702/21973...

Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

The paper should only lightly drag on the nozzle. I suspect you've gone from one extreme (too high) to another (too low). g. The paper I am using is photo-gloss paper, wax coating. Any touch on it will cause a mark. More so, when the nozzle is hot. I use this so I can actually see it makes contact....

Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

hmm, crank that heat another 20c. See if that does anything different. When it's printing does the nozzle temp drop at all? Also, by chance is that SeeMeCNC midnight black PLA? I've had nothing but trouble with it. Just curious. I can increase the temperature. As I mentioned earlier, I did have som...

Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

this is how I have mine setup, with one nut under the block and a very small portion of the nozzle sticking out beyond that. I'll get clearer picture when I get home. Edit: this might be a better example. https://youtu.be/2uvrr7wb9jI?t=8829" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; 2...

Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

Almost looks like nothing is coming out. I'm wonder if the double nut after the block is cooling it off. Can you extrude filament in the air? Yes - I can. I just tried again, and it failed again with that same issue. In comparison to man...

Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

I did the Z calibration height again. To your point, it dropped another .06mm from the last time I did it. Now, at 00.00, there is a VERY SMALL motor hum sound where there is pressure being pushed against the paper contently. The thing I don't understand, is I did the exact same process last time (m...

Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

Gene, Thank you. I will reset it again . A quick note - I tried doing it once more, but increased the bed temperature. This time, the filament just stopped coming out (no other change than bed temp): (why doesn't the youtube brackets wor...

Re: Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

KAS, Everything fails. I cannot get anything to consistently repeat or work at all. I am really tempted to sledgehammer this entire thing. At this point, it has been the worst investment I have ever made. I have had this thing for ~38 days now, in which I have spent about 20 days of actively working...

Anyone with a Prometheus head please check in!

I am sorry, but I don't know where to even begin to describe my overall angst at this point. Can anyone who has a Rostock Max V2 with a Prometheus v2 hot end PLEASE send me your PLA (and ABS if you have those) settings? I don't care if it is in MatterControl or Repetier-Host (Slic3r or ??). I just w...

Re: Bowden tube pops out during retractions

Thanks for the replies. A few things: Drop the bed temp to 55 - I will try this next, but my fear was that the first layer didn't immediately stick and was drug all over the print area, messing up the first layer of print. It did that when I had the temp set to 63c. Not only does it mess up the firs...

Re: Bowden tube pops out during retractions

Here is the part with a white background for clarity. Once I receive some advice to fix the bottom layers which are warped/curled/wacked - I think I will be extremely happy. With the other 65% of the cube (going from top down) - it looks like it printed very well. Just the first few layers are horri...

Re: Bowden tube pops out during retractions

Eric sent me the new parts. I have thrown them in - and off to print a calibration cube. I am printing PLA at 210c, along with the bed temp at 68c. I am using the Purple Elmers glue (which seems to work well - as I have a difficult time getting items off the glass). Notice the picture - it is printi...

First 3D CAD Item ever made!

I am amazed. I have NEVER used CAD software before. This was going to naturally be a learning curve no doubt, as it is part of the 3D printing world. While I am waiting for some replacement parts for my 3D Printer, I figured I would I would start checking out some various CAD software and get to mak...

Re: Bowden tube pops out during retractions

Hi Mike, Thanks for pointing me to this thread. First of all, I am sorry about the shipping fees. There are not many shipping options in Canada and they are all overpriced... There is nothing that I can do about that unfortunately :( I have heard of this happening before and there could be a few re...

Re: Bowden tube pops out during retractions

I wish DTA was in the US - due to shipping costs/timely. I would have overnight-ed the shipment. The best I could do was pay $33 for a 3 day shipment to me... Hopefully this fixes the issue. The little collet does not have the strength to hold the bowden tube in place at all. I hope the little...

Re: Bowden tube pops out during retractions

Thanks KAS.

I will order one overnight and find out.

The default PLA printing temp is 210c. I have followed the various PLA best printing threads, and can print (manually) down to 19x c. I have even tried to raise it to 215 - no luck.

Thanks,
Mike
