Re: Heuristic (AI) calibration for delta printers on Smoothi
@626Pilot Just curious on why you have two (2) zprobe.probe_pin in your config file? This is what you have: # Optional Z probe, see http://smoothieware.org/zprobe # --------------------------------------------------------------------- zprobe.probe endstop zprobe.probe_pin 1.28 # optional pin for pro...

Re: Getting the most from your ezStruder
What did u guys set your steps per mm to with the 5.18:1 geared stepper? I tried 478.6 (stock 92.4*5.18), but it's not perfect. Finetuning could take a while :) I used 466.00 as a starting point, within the "config" file for the SmoothieBoard and it was pretty bang on... For PLA that is. ...

Proper "Professional" Calipers are either Mitutoyo or Starret t. Brown & Sharp too. With TESA and Etalon being the Rolls Royce (Swiss Made) of Calipers. I've used & owned all of them in my profession. I currently own & use TESA and Mitutoyo . To measure properly (inside) first ...

@KAS,
Probably could be done.
Would be a matter of just reconfiguring the mounting holes I'm sure, or modifying the way it mounts.

Wow! Thanks guys! I just came across this thread now and I must say I'm flattered! I've some new stuff in development but I've been held up with family, engineering, life, etc... Once finished, it'll be posted for sure. It will (should) solve the problem with the filament retraction/binding when hom...

Re: Heuristic (AI) calibration for delta printers on Smoothi
I said earlier that I wouldn't work on this fork anymore, but I will keep working on it if people keep using it. I have a Smoothieboard with a busted bed heater, so useless for printing, but it's fine for testing calibration code. I still want to come back to Smoothie when the Smoothieboard 2 comes...

Re: Heuristic (AI) calibration for delta printers on Smoothi
Was talking to dc42, author of the delta calibration system for the Duet (RepRapFirmware). His firmware uses root mean squared (RMS) instead of average when looking at the suitability of a candidate solution. I like that and I think I'll try it the next time I'm working on this firmware. Has anyone...

Re: Smoothie support for the RoMax LCD
The extender above is for the one on the GLCD. It wont meet up to the slot on the left of the LCD mount. I don't think smoothie recommends using that one (on GLCD) to print from, but It's working for me and I don't want to mess with the micoSD with the config on it. Ah OK... That makes a lot more s...

Re: Impressions: Duet vs. Smoothie
I could be wrong but I believe it requires swapping the entire main chip since the memory is onchip. So unless you could find one in exactly the same package with exactly the same pin out and exactly the same internal devices and exactly the same mapping and with more memory, it would take porting ...

Re: Impressions: Duet vs. Smoothie
Forgive me if this sounds proper daft... Would it be possible and/or relatively easy to locate and swap out the memory module(s) on the SmoothieBoard to something much greater? Or would this be a nightmare to implement? For those interested, 626Pilot specifically, here is a good read on the Smoothie...

On the "config" file resource usage, we noticed that if you're using the "custom_menu" like we do, you are able to have around 13 "custom_menu" items enabled without Network stuff enabled and all works well. With Network stuff enabled, it's 7 "custom_menu" ite...

Re: Getting the most from your ezStruder
Well, myself and AEK on the forums here have the Geared Stepper Motor installed on a Fly-n-Strude running off of a SmoothieBoard on a Rostock MAX v2. We will be installing the 0.9 Degree Steppers with 16 Tooth Pulleys next, but in the meantime, the vertical banding is almost non existent! The follow...

Re: Poll: Which 3D printer controller do you use, or plan to
It really is a pretty display. You have to program it separately over USB, which is lame, but at least you don't use precious RAM or flash memory on menu strings. I got my Duet wired up for the most part. This is what I've learned so far: No wiring diagram. If you Google "duet controller wirin...

Re: Poll: Which 3D printer controller do you use, or plan to
Another option is to run a Raspberry Pi with Octoprint print server. Upload files and start jobs through the web server. Does the Smoothie not have it's own Web Server interface? I thought it did and that it looked like a version of Pronterface...? That it would allow one to do everything that you ...

Re: Poll: Which 3D printer controller do you use, or plan to
I use the SmoothieBoard on two Rostock MAX v2s. So far, love the simplicity of the "config" file and flashing the firmware. Best I've seen yet! However, I can't stand the USB/Windows file conflict of being only able to write to the SD Card from one source at a time! I might try getting rid...

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build
I machined mine as well. I used 6061 with very tight tolerances on the "piston" and "bore" and had them black anodized to prevent oxidation and add surface protection. I almost used bronze but wanted them to blend with the black of the machine. Rostock MAX v2 - FSR Mount - with P...

Re: Getting the most from your ezStruder
I second the "bolt in spring" upgrade for the EZStruder from Brian. We did a test print a few days ago running PLA through a Geared Stepper Motor & EZStruder on a Fly-n-Strude mount... We pushed to SmoothieBoard up to 500% and the Hotend could barely keep up with the temps... Yet, the ...

I agree with the above post... I wanted to get the SmoothieBoard from reading all it can do, but it was because of 626Pilot's efforts that pushed me to purchase one, actually two of them! So I second the praise for 626Pilot's efforts and hope to see him continue his great efforts in supporting the S...

I would like to see this thread topic become a sort of "repository" for Smoothie Settings and if possible, Simplify3D Settings!

Re: SmoothieBoard "config" Settings...
Hey KAS,
On top of the "config" file you posted earlier, would you be comfortable sharing your S3D setup?
Like a "Factory File"? I know settings change from part to part, but the "basics" usually stay the same.
