Re: A Strategy for Successful (and Great) Prints
I good tool I always use in place of paper is a feeler gauge (available at your nearest automobile shop or online), then you know exactly (or at least exceptionally close) the height the nozzle sits above the bed when z=0 due to the thickness printed on the feeler gauge. It also won't "wear out...

Re: A Strategy for Successful (and Great) Prints
It most likely has to do with either the delta arms slightly binding when near that position, improper belt tension (or worn belts) allowing for slight positional inaccuracy... Just my guess anyway

Re: Printing with Line trimmer
bought some of this stuff well over a year ago when I found this thread... Also got a kraken way back then. But finally installed the kraken (just 1 nozzle) and trying out the trimmer line as we speak. This stuff is pretty awesome! 0.4mm nozzle @ 255*C, 0.16mm layers http://youtu.be/U3XZob5njXs"...

Ok, I added the first set of calibration things and instructions to the bottom of the first post. Drawing inspiration from Highcooley's design I threw together this quick one in openSCAD, and made it parametric so it'll work for any size round bed! Can customize the outer diameter, number of inner ...

Re: A Strategy for Successful (and Great) Prints
texsc98, it's all a matter of persistence and tuning. I get no blobbing from KISS at all. It is very possible that the default config for Cura is better matched to your setup. I run Cura and Slic3r just to stay current. I still prefer KISS and it's gcode. When the nozzle comes down and the print st...

Re: A Strategy for Successful (and Great) Prints
I've used KISSlicer the past 2 years I've had my printer... But I gotta say I'm really liking the gcode movement the new Cura bundled with Repetier v1.0.6 is throwing out. I was having issues with KISSlicer blobbing right at the end of a movement so figured I'd try something else. Not sure what caus...

Re: Carbon fiber delta arms (lots of pics/vids)
Noob question... What exactly is it that the the carbon fiber arms do that result in a higher quality print? in prior versions of the rostockMax the arms were cause of major headache because they were not perfectly smooth, they required a ton of sanding and no one every gets it perfect the first-30...

No problem, good luck with the blizzard!! At least the printer will help heat up the place some, lol!Catfang wrote:Thanks! I ended up trying Loctite Super Glue, and it appears to have worked okay. I'm stuck in blizzard weather so it will still be a few days before I can install them in the shop though!

Re: Carbon fiber delta arms (lots of pics/vids)
So it looks like you tried both Gorilla Glue and Loctite Super Glue. Which would you recommend? I'd say I preferred the gorilla glue... Because as it sets it expands so it makes for an extremely tight/secure fit. But I'm sure the super glue would hold plenty tight as well. Although with the GG I di...

Re: The Original Rostock
If you check my signature... You can see how to DIY basically the same arms as Trick Laser (carbon fiber tube with ball rod ends) for ~$40. I've been using them for quite a while. Actually about 5 minutes away from finishing a 20 hour print with LOTS of support that printed amazing! I can't comment ...

EZStruder Top Mount
Hey all, just wanted to throw this out there if you haven't seen it already... I designed & printed a top mount for the EZStruder which I've been using the past couple months, gotta say I LOVE it! It's super thin & lightweight, but sturdy enough to print ABS & 645 Nylon. Only took about ...

Re: Best object to calibrate for optimal settings?
Just posted out on Thingiverse the object I created & have been using for single wall calibration for quite a while because I couldn't get the single wall cube to slice properly in KISSlicer... It's a single wall cylinder http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:133050 designed for 0.55mm extrusion widt...

I had one of those small "nano" fuses go out on my board when I shorted something... Here's where I found after talking with John @ seemecnc :D "Found the ones you mentioned on ultimachines site: https://ultimachine.com/content/fuse-0448005mr. Also found it here ever so slightly cheap...

Re: Carbon fiber delta arms (lots of pics/vids)
haha, too funny you ask... When I placed my order at goodwinds, I actually ordered solid rod that would fit as well! I think solid rod "might" be strong enough... Given that the rods don't have a lot of lateral torque being applied to them, it's mostly just holding up the weight of the eff...

Re: EZ Struder Unstrudeling
I had problems when I first used the EZstruder as well. First problem I had was temperature too low, and I'm now printing between 230-235C and it seems to be making it better. But even now it still will "slip" and chew the filament some but rarely. Usually doesn't cause it to jam, just sli...

Re: Help - top mount EZstruder
This is exactly what I needed. Thanks. Now what about the heater/fan/temp wires going to the hotend? No longer braced against the Bowden tube, they move around a lot, and that's no good. It will probably work-harden the wires and either break them or hose up one of the solder joints. What is everyo...
