Error when homing

Hello all, Long time since I posted here! Anyway, I have an Orion with a HE 280 hot end, and I am having a issue when the printer homes. It comes down to this: When homing (of course) all three skates goto the top, then do a single re-tap, then drop a set amount. Unfortunately the X tower (the left ...

Re: 0.92 Firmware Upgrade for HE280...Any tips?

I've done all the upgrades: Arms, cheapskates, and hot end. I've updated the firmware and everything seems to work fine for me... Except the calibration stuff. I have tried to calibrate using the old manual method and the new auto-calibration method and by the X tower it's always low, high across fr...

Re: Odd jumping mid print

I took the side panels off and made sure the interior isn't getting hot. Which it wasn't. I tried a different model and noticed that the non-printing moves were making some odd squealing noises. The speed for those is 300 mm/s which is the default in the firmware. I'm wondering if that might be part...

Odd jumping mid print

First: I have an Orion with the new cheapskates and arms. I'm running the latest firmware (with the correct adjustments for the new parts) and have properly calibrated the extruder, PID, bed level, etc. I've got a problem. It's not exactly random, but it is very close to being random. During a print...

Re: so this happened yesterday

It's a fiddle man!

Strangely, I live in Idaho not Georgia but whatever...

Also, he is threatening to chop off my hands or something. He keeps screaming something about "Fry's stupid meat sausages" or something. ;-)

Re: Atlas 3D Scanner

That trimbal scanner is actually a Faro Focus: http://www.faro.com/en-us/products/3d-s ... d/overview" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Trimbal simply slapped their label on it and sell it for a slight markup.

Re: While calibrating LCD went off.

Like me, it appears you accidentally managed to blow a fuse. It happens. ALOT. To me anyway... Especially if (like me) you suck at crimping those super-tiny connectors onto cables. Sigh.... The replacements don't cost too much. I get mine from here http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en/circuit-pr...

Re: Atlas 3D Scanner

As someone who manages a 3d scanning lab I can say that the Atlas looks a lot better than most of the "inexpensive" scanners out there. Especially the NextEngine, which we have had since the hardware beta for it. I may look into buying one for research purposes... The David system is an ok...

Re: Delta Automatic Calibration Tool - For Repetier Firmware

I just got myself a dial indicator and printed out a simple mount from Thingaverse so I can use it for calibrations. When trying to calibrate my Orion with the latest HTML version I keep getting a change to my horizontal radius that seems to be absurd. All the other changes seem to be good, but goin...

Re: 3d builder app for windows 8.1

Jimustanguitar: Yes to both. I haven't used NetFabb for anything since they keep a copy of the model, and I'm not willing to just give the access to our stuff. I haven't looked into the 3MF file type much. Until more software supports it I'll just keep using OBJ to GCODE like I am now. KAS: Yep. Did...

So no one has tried to write a "Printer driver" for Windows that recognizes the max and Orion then...?

Re: Faro Focus 3D Scanner

Yep! Java hit the nail on the head. I usually have to hyper-sub sample my data sets to get the generate normals / poison surface stuff to function. We capture at high resolution (~.5mm at 10m which takes a lot of time let me tell ya) then sub sample down to around 1cm or less for surfacing. Really l...

Re: Faro Focus 3D Scanner

Actually, getting a printable surface out of SCENE is all but impossible. We have been using one for a few years now, and there is quite the involved process to make a printable file. Go get Cloud Compare. This is free software for processing lidar scans data. You can load and register the raw FLS f...

In our Lab (ivl.imnh.isu.edu) we use ZBrush. Mudbox does a good job too. We tried Blender for a while, but it's just not quite where we need it to be for our purposes...

Re: Greetings and Salutations!

Already downloaded the Orion manual and read through it twice. I haven't grabbed the Rostok Max manual yet though.

Oh, I'm planning on being banned as a spam bot with all the awesomeness I am gonna be doing.

Hopefully I don't embarrass ya all too much ;-)

Greetings and Salutations!

Hello all you 3d printing magnates out there! I just bought myself an Orion and am waiting quietly for it to arrive sometime in the next week or so. I went with the Orion because it comes pre-assembled, and being the impatient sort I am, I'd rather not wait any longer than I must. I'm really looking...
