Re: Large part... nozzles tripping over?
I discovered (at least partly) what the the problem was here... the nozzle for the support material had managed to unwind itself about 2-3 turns from the hot end, so it was hanging significantly lower than the ABS nozzle. This would have caused ever-worsening crashing / collision problems between th...

Large part... nozzles tripping over?
I have had no end of problems trying to print this part... this is attempt 4. Before running this print I cleaned out the nozzles, replaced the PTFE tubes inside both hotends, re-tensioned the belts, and re-calibrated the z height around the bed as best i could. But it appears to have tripped over i...

Re: Custom control of Fan0 and Fan1 - How to???
Ok, so it looks like running a relay/opto off of the bed and ex0 outputs will only work if they are in bang-bang mode, which is not really a viable solution as the PWM temperature control on those is pretty crucial. So, what I wanted to do in the first place was to set up this kind of logic... IF (E...

Re: Custom control of Fan0 and Fan1 - How to???
geneb - I think we (I am at least) were on about adding external optocouplers (or solid state relays now that you mention it), and triggering those off of the PWM signal being supplied by the MOSFETs. Do you know what the frequency of the PWM control is, on those outputs? [roughly is fine... order o...

Re: Custom control of Fan0 and Fan1 - How to???
Xenocrates - Thanks for your ideas there. Forgive me if i have gotten the wrong end of the stick, but are the MOSFETs you are talking about the green terminals at the top that you screw the cables for the extruders/fans/bed into? If so, then these are not so handy for being directly used with any so...

Custom control of Fan0 and Fan1 - How to???
Hi all I have a Rostock max v1 that is running dual extruders. I am currently cooling the PEEK sections of the hot ends with a compressed air supply, which I turn on and off manually. I have the machine inside a heated cabinet, and I also turn the heater unit [that heats the cabinet] on and off manu...

Re: Printer loses track of coordinate system mid print??
Thanks for the thoughts there - I ended up tightening the belts (they were a bit slacker than I had thought them to be) and that seems to have solved it.
And yes that part was curling up a bit, really should thicken up that section a bit to reduce that.

Printer loses track of coordinate system mid print??
Has anyone else experienced this kind of failure? The print is going fine, then I leave it alone for 5 minutes and when I get back it appears that the nozzle has translated its understanding of where [0,0,0] is... and hence ends up printing off to one side, mid air, or in the worst case, crashing in...

Using HIPS juice / goo / paint primer - straight to glass?
I have had some success with using what I call HIPS Paint as a bed primer - I dissolve a bunch of HIPS filament in a small amount of d-Limonene overnight, which creates a gloopy white-yellow liquid that I apply to the bed with a paint brush. ABS and HIPS seem to stick to this quite well. However the...

Re: Gappy extrusion with ABS, no problems with HIPS?
Thank you very much Mike - after tightening the axle on the extruder (the rollers were indeed slipping) I went through the things you suggested, one by one, changing the setup. With each change I saw an improvement in print quality - printing slower and increasing the temperature made the most notic...

Re: Gappy extrusion with ABS, no problems with HIPS?
I am running: 2 x 0.5mm nozzles - Both nozzles at 230 C ABS extruder set to 130% extrusion multiplier / HIPS extruder set to 90% extrusion multiplier 2 x SeeMeCNC Bowden Hotends 2 x Steve's Extruder Speeds - this is what my speeds are when set to 'Fast' Print Speed: 60mm/s Outer Perimeter Speed: 60m...

Gappy extrusion with ABS, no problems with HIPS?
I have a twin extruded Rostock Max, and normally use Ex1 for ABS / Ex2 for HIPS. Today I ran an ABS only print and got terrible extrusion... very gappy 'dotted line' feed coming out of the nozzle. http://s16.postimg.org/y62hxwwhh/DSC_0061.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ...

Thanks @RocketMagnet - that's exactly what I was looking for!
@McSlappy I am using CuraEngine within Repetier-Host as my slicing engine, but I don't get that error.

How do you get 'Remaining Print time' onto the LCD screen?
Hi all, When I got my Rostock MAX (second hand) the remaining print time was showing at the bottom of the LCD screen. Since then I have had to re-download and install the firmware, so that's been lost. Sadly I don't ave contact for the original owner to try to get his firmware off of him. Anyway, I ...

Dual extrusion - Inactive nozzle crashes into part
I have a Rostock MAX printer, which I have modified to run two extruders, one for ABS and one for HIPS. I've set up the nozzles at the same height, so that they can both print a first layer that sticks to the heated bed. However, when printing, the inactive nozzle 'crashes into' the material that th...
