Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimeter.

Sorry to re-open an old topic, I heard about this Rostock Max which can't be calibrated between tower for long, and that was exactly the reason I didn't bought this machine (not rich enough to buy a printer I was not sure to make work properly). I wanted a big delta printer, and I couldn't find a be...

Re: What is the best filament for high temp applications?

Once again, my job is to be an expert about industrial plastics, but 3d printing is very new for me, and it's just a hobby. I'm not sure about what I say but I think the best surface print would be metallic... a flat aluminium bed should do the job, even if steel is much better for me (keeps the hea...

Re: What is the best filament for high temp applications?

I have a customer that wants a printed bracket part that will be in a continuous steamy environment at 100c up to 150c at times. I'm not an expert about filaments, but trust me, if nylon is PA66, it shouldn't move in these conditions. Sure a glassfiber reinforced nylon would be greater for heat res...

Re: What is the best filament for high temp applications?

I have a customer that wants a printed bracket part that will be in a continuous steamy environment at 100c up to 150c at times. Any suggestions on what is the best filament for this application? I am thinking ABS would be fine, but I don't really know for sure. What temperature does ABS start to s...

Re: Auto Level - Auto Calibration Talk

I imagine the genuine must be something like 80mhz 8bit & I agree that it's outpriced, and outdated. It must heat a bit while calculating delta maths ? upgrade to 32bits and faster processor seems a good choice to calculate delta, so that it shouldnt be so expensive nowadays.. When you consider ...

thanks. what about the weird z-axis behaviour, impossible to calibrate outside the triangle made by the towers ?

Re: Best moisture-free filament strategy?

I think no one of these ideas would give a really good result, but they are ideas, and it's important to begin with ideas. I only give my opinion as a plastics technician, but I can be wrong, I have not tested to prove it can't work. Thanks to you, I had a (no so good) idea, too. Imagine a printer w...

Re: Best moisture-free filament strategy?

Quick question, how could you measure the moisture *inside* the filament? is it an easy way? (not the environment surrounding it, but the filament itself?) Thanks! To my knowledge, only a few professional devices can achieve that. I got one in my job, used to control that plastic pellets are really...

Re: Auto Level - Auto Calibration Talk

Ok sure for me I would take an E3d V6 because I want to make nylon parts. I've seen your bracket to fit it. You said that for you, with your controller, you are able to get a good calibration with a delta printer ? does it need a smoothie motherboard ? Is a good option for me to buy a rostock V2 and...

Re: Auto Level - Auto Calibration Talk

Hi 626 ! thanks for your answer, know that I respect a lot your work, i would be greated to share with you in a near future (I don't have a printer yet, always looking for which model I want...) but if you permit me to deviate the thread for one message, I'm not sure wanting a rostock V2 anymore, be...

Re: Auto Level - Auto Calibration Talk

Of course it exists, and If it wasn't, It would be makeable, but it has a cost I'm focusing on how to emulate a false auto-calibration routine, but for me there is absolutely no way to succeed in, without getting a feedback on the equivalent cartesian Z-axis, cause to auto calibrate, once you solved...

Re: Filament Humidity Question

It depend not really of the temp, but of the rate of moisture in ambiant air, that why the 2h spend into the hopper dried are so accurate : plastic is totaly isolated from external air... And that's why only a few hours after getting out of drier, plastic is back to its maximal level of moisture... ...

Re: Auto Level - Auto Calibration Talk

I followed this lot of interrest that thread... I work in plastics, and I have some skills in robotics... Homing, calibrating, are things thats our industrial robot are used to do, and they do it automatic... Let me give my opinion on why a REAL auto calibration can't be done on our printers... On a...

Re: Best moisture-free filament strategy?

Hi everybody Before all, please excuse my unperfect english, it's not a mother tongue for me  I introduce myself as an absolute begginner with 3D print (never done, but soon...) I work in plastics for 8 years, especially injection molding, and we have exactly the same issue, but worse, we can'...

Re: Filament Humidity Question

I work in plastics, especially in Injection Molding, and there are some plastics that would absorb moisture. In industrial plastics, material (pellets, sheets, etc...) are dried in a "hopper dryer", that is like an oven with a grid, and hot air is blowed throught the pellets, by downside, ...
