Re: Re: Time to cut losses with Rostock Max v2?

After going to the New York Maker Faire 2 weeks ago i was intrigued by the Prusa i3 MK2 printer. that I saw there. It is a Cartesian system with auto bed leveling and some other nice features. it is also upgradeable to 2-4 color printing. $699 DIY kit or $899 assembled. Upgrade multi filament $199-2...

I read you retract posting. very thorough. the variation between temperatures , volume, speed. many variables, a lot of trial and error. Well written.

Re: Re: Time to cut losses with Rostock Max v2?

Going with the E3D print head was probably not the best idea. it has since been removed and I back with the original SeemeCNC hot end. I did make 2 Rambo code changes with the E3D. on was to increase the max heating level, I have since changed that back to 245ºC. The other was for the thermister. It...

Re: Time to cut losses with Rostock Max v2?

I have hand months of printing problems with my Rostock Max V2. It all started after a had to change the resistors for the hot end. i have replaced the entire hot end first with an E3d. When this did not work properly i went back to the SeemeCNC (old style) type. I kept the E3D thermistor. i have be...

Re: E3D V6 printing problems

Since I have just about given up on the E3D what do you think about waiting for the new hot end that is coming out for the Rostock max V3 and doing a retrofit for the V2. What is the purpose of the accelerometers that are incorporated.. If the wires have to go onto a new 8 pin board will there need ...

Thank you. Not the answer I was hoping for but at least an honest one. The E3D has been a disaster for me.

E3D V6 printing problems

i have a Rostock max V2 printer for about a year. The stock hot end blew a resistor and instead of going though all the work of replacing it, the copper silicone, all the kapton tape, etc, I thought here is my chance to get a better hot end. i had been looking at the E3D v6 for awhile. Much cleaner ...

Re: Need help find the information

You can also go the Matterhackers web site. Go to the store, search hot ends, and the E3D 12 volt will come up. scroll down the page until you see the Rostock Max printer. then there is a link to assembly and installation. i have had a few issues but I am getting past them now. it is important to do...

I too was really hesitant about soldering, It is not that hard once you get the hang of it. Remember both sides of what you are soldering must be warmed up to accept the solder. I bought a little practice kit off of Amazon before I attempted the heated bed.

Re: Greetings from Santa Cruz, and a question!

I can speak from personal experience going from the stock hot end to the E3D hot end. After 9 months of use, my original hot end would not reach proper heating temperature as one of the resistors failed. This is a weak point of the design. Replacement resistors are cheap but you have to go through a...

Re: Hi from Boston, MA!

After having a reisistor go bad in 6 months after assembling the Rostock Max v2 I am enticed by what I perceive as a better solution for printing. No need for resistors, and the copper silicone. The thermistor is held in place by a small screw, not by more silicone. No need for all the Kapton tape. ...

Re: Branching? Oozing? Overextruding?

I have also had the problem of extra little strands of plastic that seem to be on prints at points where the extruder has to skip a point. Printing multiple pieces simultaneously is more problematic when the printer skips from one obiect tot the other one. The retraction is set at the default settin...

Re: Rostock Max V3 Sighting

What is the advantage of having all the electronics up top? Are you moving the power supply up there as well? i personally like the controls to be at the desk level. Is there an advantage to the printer in the change to the top mount electronics? Seems like it will be more of a pain to always having...

Re: Diary of a RoStock Max V2 print

There are several reasons your print might not be coming out as yo wish. i have made a list of all my print failures and what might have been the reason. Most things are really simple. I put the Rostock max V2 together from the kit and I couldn't be happier with it. I am no electrical engineer or an...

Re: Just can't get these prints to stick...

You can use a glue stick on top of the blue painter tape for ABS to stick better. i have become a true believer of PLA for 99% of projects now. i print at 195 Cº with a bed temperature of 70 Cº This works out very well. I never have any jamming problems with the filament. Make sure the filament on t...

Re: Emissions of Ultrafine Particles and Volatile Organic Co

I set my Rostock Max V2 up in my basement. I have been printing with it for 4 months now. This a relatively closed in space. I have a ceiling fan in the area but this would just blow the particulates around more I suspect. I print mostly in PLA and there are fumes form the melting filament. i would ...

I am in Maryland as well (Howard County). I built my Rostock Max from the kit and it is working very well for me. If you need some assistance i may be able to help out. It does take some adjusting ongoing monitoring. With all the rapid movement of the arms and skates, things will loosen after a whil...

Re: Extruder Temp Drops upon starting Print

I had a similar problem. I finally realized the Kapton tape I had placed around the nozzle pace had either burned off or mysteriously disappeared. By adding more tape it acts as an insulator and also blocks the blower fan from cooling the print head nozzle too much. You can also adjust the layer fan...

Re: Printing in the trough of disillusionment

When the bed temperature was 60º C the glass was practically a skating rink for my PLA filament. Nothing would stick and it would be all over the place after a few layers. Does that mean its bad filament? 210º C extruder temperature also gives me decent layer adhesion. Prints come out well for me. I...

Re: Printing in the trough of disillusionment

Adjust your bed temperature to 70º C for PLA for better adhesion. The default is 60º C but I found that PLA was sliding all over the place. I use 210º C for PLA at the extruder head. i like the matter hackers filament. One spool of Black PLA was very brittle and kept breaking in the Bowden tube. I s...

Re: Extruder Temp Drops upon starting Print

Temperature drops after printing starts are usually related to the layer fans blowing over the extruder nozzle. If you are using PLA the fan or fans come on. If the temperature is dropping too much and the filament is not melting properly i would adjust the percentage of the layer fan output. In Mat...

Re: Software upload problem to Rambo

I downloaded Matter Control and it can connect to the printer. I am fairly convinced now that the LCD board is defective. I have rechecked every connection multiple times. This is going on for 3 nights now. Without a functional LCD the machine is a giant paperweight. I can upload the Repitier.ino fi...
