Cold Hot End
Hi folks! I have a Rostock Max v2 that I have been very happy with but it has been having a few extruder issues of late so I'm turning to the crowd for advice. I typically run long prints(~48 hours) in PLA. My first layer is 230 degrees then the rest of the print runs at 218 with the plate at 60 (fa...

What are you using for a Taulman 618 Build Plate?
People printing Taulman 618- what are you using for a build plate? Using Blue painters tape I am getting warpage/separation. I'm going to try Elmer's glue stick on Blue tape- maybe this will be better?? The Taulman site suggested garolite, but the garolite I bought from McMaster Carr is so badly war...

Re: Build surface...which one?
I'm looking for the ideal Taulman Nylon printing surface. I just got a 3/16" sheet of Garolite from McMaster Carr but it was badly warped and unusable. McMaster says the material is warped due to the manufacturing process. From what I've read, apparently others have had the issue too. What thic...

I feel like I have bought most of this kit in parts already. It would be nice to know the exact list of the kit's contents.

Hi all, I'm an original Rostock Max backer on Indiegogo- After 3 months of messing with it way back then, I was unable to get a decent print and gave up on my poor max until last month when I swore I would get it working. Its close... o so close, but not quite... Any advice on getting the Onyx board...

Re: micro extruder replacement for bowden
I think if its mounted on the upper platform it could be okay. I'm also curious about keeping Steve's extruder but just mounting the motor above it.
Please post if you go for it. I'm curious how it turns out.

Re: micro extruder replacement for bowden
Seems like you could use one of these: http://www.ultibots.com/micro-extruder-kit-3mm-filament/ Its probably a little cheaper to cob something together that uses Steve's extruder with and one of those small motor/gears, but this kit might be the easiest implementation. I've been looking at what Joha...

Re: Preferred Software/Firmware
Got it here:
https://github.com/polygonhell/Repetier-Firmware
Another Question- In another post Polygonhell is talking about downloading the dev branch of Repetier and that its better than the current release. If I try that, do I have to compile repetier to run it? I'm on a mac.

How do I tell what version of the Rambo Board I have?
And where do i find PolygonHell's firmware to download it? Can I run it before I install the LCD controller too? Or I have to install the controller first?

Hi All, I have one of the original IndiGoGo kits and after upgrading and replacing some parts am just getting back to recalibrating and printing. I just wanted to check in about firmware versions and softwares people are using. Firmware: I see that the github (https://github.com/johnoly99/Marlin-for...

I had one go on me too.
My feedback would be to push the blue part to disconnect the tube rather than try to unscrew the brass fitting while the tube is still attached.

Continued Bowden extruder issues
Hi all- I've just returned from travelling for a month and am psyched to finish getting my Max up to speed, but have hit some more roadblocks... Question: Do those compression tittings go bad? Upon first firing up of my machine the compression fitting over the extruder rollers let go of the teflon t...

You need to push the Bowden tube further into that fitting. Once properly seated, there's little teeth in there that grab the tube and prevent it from pulling out.

Re: Z offet issue
Two things I did seem to have fixed things: 1) I discovered that the Z belt had loosened up- just a little, but apparently enough to make it skip. 2) I also had purchased a proper crimping tool and redid the connections to the rambo board with new 4 pin connectors. After I tightened it up some it se...

Seems to be moving away from the Z axis, so I guess I should look at that one? Although the print with the legs also has a shift away from X, I think.

Z offet issue
I am having a frequent Z offset issue where the machine jumps out of alignment. Is anyone else having this issue? The other strange thing that occasionally happens when I kill a print is that I will send a G28 command to home the machine again and only the Y axis will move upward. I have to quickly ...

Re: Got any pointers on the Bowden Extruder?
Some more prints and some settings today. I had a couple instances of printing failures- The settings are more or less the same as the settings below. On all prints I am running a small fan just setting next to the printer after the first couple layers. First I had a print that I aborted- the machin...
