Re: New RepRapFirmware 1.18 released today
I'm getting 1.15a in the web interface after upgrading. Maybe you need to clear your web browser cache? Did it ask you to refresh after uploading the zip file? https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/blob/dev/WHATS_NEW.md contains notes on what needs to be updated in the config file. Just ready throu...

Re: New RepRapFirmware 1.18 released today
I'm using a .85 board as well. Use these three files and upgrade through the web interface https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/tree/dev/Release/Duet-0.6-0.8.5/Stable ... no need for the bossac method with the .85 board if it's on your network. Upload the iap.bin file first and the WebControl file...

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build
I have been using something like this in some projects in the far past. I was thinking this would be an ideal mounting method for panels of a heatchamber. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Magnetic-Craft-Adhesive-1-5mm-adhesive/dp/B001DT262C Steel counterpart tape is also available. It would make dismantlin...

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build
Hi ccavanaugh, I was wondering if you can post the files for the heated chamber please? I will 2nd the request, I'm looking for one also So... my bad, just saw this. I've been slowly picking at this. I'm not happy with the size of it to prevent reduction of print space and still clear the layer fan...

Re: Was shipped a convex-shaped heat bed. Same with the replacement
Search the old posts, but the convex bed is generally a result of not letting the bed float a bit. The screws holding the bed need to allow it to float just a bit. The simplest thing to do is to loosen the bed screws, bring the bed up to temperature and then just tighten until they don't move. You a...

Re: E3D is now selling nickel-plated copper heater blocks and nozzles + hardened hobbed bolts
I'm assuming an electroless nickel is being applied. It's a relatively simple and cost effective process to plate parts with. Depending on the phosphorus level used, it is very durable and tends to improve surface finish a bit. I use it a fair amount for rotating shaft/wear conditions and improved c...

Re: Worth it?
Have you tried the latest Cura >= 2.3.1? It can be a bit cantankerous when it comes to setting up a delta, but once you get there, it has some really nice features as of late. The cubic infill is incredibly strong vs. older infill patterns with very nice path managment. It has Coasting which was a n...

Re: Some musings on retracts
The Prometheus has an uninterrupted barrel within limits and can tolerate a lot of retraction without jamming if you have a strong enough extruder to push it through. I use 3.5 - 4.0mm of retraction for PETG and typically 1.5 - 2.0mm for PLA. I'm currently using a Bondtech Extruder. A stock EzStrude...

Re: Filament Pro and Con's
I've struggled a bit more with the Inland PETG vs ColorFabb and MakerGeek PETG. I'm playing around with some PETG from Toner plastics soon. I've found the colored Inland PETGs print more easily than the transparent PETG. My PETG tips... Coasting in Cura or S3D helps a bunch with strings. Use of Pres...

This is how I check for alignment. A framing square was not working for me.

Re: banding/artifacts on the surface of layers with holes
I've seen the same issue on my prints... always shows up with round holes. Mine are nowhere as evident as yours. I've tried Slic3r, Cura, KISS, and Simplify 3D. The banding is less noticeable with Cura while using as close as possible settings for each slicer. I need to test some more, but I suspect...

Re: Filament Pro and Con's
I use PETG a fair amount for applications seeing higher temperatures than what PLA can handle. It's a little bit tricker to print with than PLA and ABS, but prints well once you get it dialed in. If it's just a cosmetic part or not exposed to higher temps (hot car, etc), than PLA is my goto. I use A...

Re: PETG (PET)
I've been using it for quite some time for metal lathe fixtures and brackets and the strength has been more than adequate. It is a bit more flexible than PLA, so part design needs to account for the difference if it's an issue. I've also been using it for garage wall brackets, to hang cords, lawn ch...

I would stick with what you have if you upgraded and are not having any issues. No use wasting a good power supply.

Re: Duetwifi + Rostock Max V1 + New PSU?
Based on prior experience with the old ATX power supply, a meanwell would be much better. Can you hear the layer or hotend fans change speed with heated bed or hotend loads changing? If so, it means it's coming up short on ability to deliver enough power. SeeMeCNC's should be good, and if you look a...

Re: Duet WiFi on Rostock Max update
I have a 0.85 & 7" PanelDue running on a cartesian printer and I liked it so much I went with the Duet Wifi for an upgrade on my Max V2. I will start next week. Has anyone tried to use the HE280 with the DC42 or rerap firmwares? I thought I read that it is I2C for the probing. I have not t...

PEI holds up fine to FSR probing and is a relatively hard surface. It should be fine.

Lathe Drive Dog
Couldn't find a drive dog with a long enough tang to engage the back plate. I'm only using it to polish a handle, so loads are not very large. Printed in PETG with 0.25 mm layers.

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build
Good to know! Also, is there a reason that the FSR brackets are in 3 separate files? I can't tell any difference between them, but I don't want to assume. Lol I guess it doesn't really matter. Thanks again! The three versions prevent over constraint and allows for dimensional error and thermal expa...

1st option... you need the glass to keep the PEI flat. The relative flatness of the Trick Laser spreader is good, but not good enough for a consistent layer height.
