Epic Fail = Dead Rambo
Step 1: Put brain into back pocket. Step 2: Touch the live heater wires together. Pro-Tip: Always remember to unplug before touching ANYTHING! It was the very last thing I had to do to complete the installation of an E3D V6 hot-end. I had done some testing with the hot-end wires simply twiste...

Gear Generator
I wiped up a gear generator based on the MCAD 'involute_gears.scad' libarary Hopefully, this makes creating gears very easy since all you have to do is plug in some numbers and press F6. Options include: - recessed sides (single or double sided) - gear hub (single or double sided) - set screw in the...

Re: Working model of a Tower Crane
I don't know. What I do know is that all I've done is spend a lot of money on filament that goes straight into the garbage. I'm getting very annoyed that nothing every prints properly. The return on the investment of this printer is near zero still. Just tried silver @ 205 degrees and 30mm and it fa...

Re: Working model of a Tower Crane
Well this just isn't going to happen I guess.
Every single print with I do with Red PLA filament fails with the same failure in the cold end.
2 tries to print this both failed after about 6 hours with the same problem. Filament is broken inside the cold end.

Re: Working model of a Tower Crane
Thanks, but I use 123D Design from Autodesk. It's so very easy to use and a great tool for beginners. More powerfull than Sketchup, but significantly less complicated than, say, Blender.Eaglezsoar wrote:Kitecraft, did you Cad this tower? If so this is a very good job.

Working model of a Tower Crane
I just kicked off my first looonnggg print. 18 hours and 7 minutes Wish me luck! It's the first of 15! Each piece is a single vertical truss section for the mast of a Tower Crane :) It's gonna be soooo much fun to build. Overall size will be about 2 meters tall with a 1.5 meter boom (Jib and counter...

Re: Help Needed: Arm Z height calibration
Ya that bit gave me trouble too. The problem line is the first sentence. Do NOT click the 'Home All'. The previous line had you enter the command "G0 Z5 X0 Y90 F3500". This will position the nozzle @ the Z tower and 5mm above the bed. Now, DO NOT click the home button. In the manual contro...

Re: Latest problem is with extruder stepper
I think both of those suggestions were very helpfull. The latest print (which is actually still printing at this moment!) is doing very good. I made 2 changes. 1: I reduced the speed by 25% 2: I switched to RepetierHost and Sli3er. Sli3er has produced a huge reduction in retracts and the filitment e...

Re: Latest problem is with extruder stepper
I had a simular problem. My extruded motor would get super hot with jobs that had lots of retracts. I ended up attaching a fan with a built in heat sink that I had salvaged from a old video card. I wired it inline with the peek fan. Solved the problem of the hot motor. Also interesting as this prin...

I've found that things like that happen when you go too fast at too low a temperature.

Latest problem is with extruder stepper
After failed print after failed print, I can only conclude that the heat from the extruder stepper is causing the filament to soften to the point that it just squishes and won't feed.
Is there a way to fix this problem?
Thanks
