Adding non-structural elements to the Max.
Hi all. To begin Hacking my Max, I need to get a few wires from the Rambo up into the top section where an additional microcontroller and assorted goodies will live. Would it be safe to add new vertical pillars in the middle of the flat sides between y-z and x-z. (Printed non-structural pillars of c...

Re: Building Betsy. A RMv2 build log
Thanks for the advice! :D Except for one thing (the one non-laser cut tabs on the upper vert. supports), every actual 'problem' has been my own mistake. Overall, it's been a very good kit. And I've built a lot of stuff from ships to planes to my own robots. I really am impressed with it's build qual...

Re: Building Betsy. A RMv2 build log
Episode 9: First print and a big surprise. I failed to verify my order was shipped correct and did not notice the 'ABS' silver I ordered was shipped as PLA. I'm guessing that printing PLA with ABS settings is what caused this destructive failure. [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UET5BVjMfu0[/...

Re: Building Betsy. A RMv2 build log
Well, the PTC connector had a full on blockage inside it. Tried to drill it out and pulled out a giant plug of plastic. Also destroyed the connector.
Which size of connector is this? The store lists both 4mm and 6mm, and I don't know which one I need.
Thanks.

Re: Building Betsy. A RMv2 build log
I'll be posting two more videos soon. But, my first print failed. Due to my own failure to verify my order was shipped correctly, I failed to notice that the 'ABS' silver I ordered arrived as PLA. :( I started printing the fan shroud, but it stopped feeding filament about 1/4 way through. When I tri...

Re: Building Betsy. A RMv2 build log
Welllll
I sorta might've could've happened to have maybe forgot to perchance put heat shrink tubing over both leads before, errrm, sleeving them. This is on the other end where you plug the lead into the motherboard. The hot-end was fine.

Re: Building Betsy. A RMv2 build log
Yep, fixed it. <geez> So, while I wait for the RTV to set now that I've re-installed the thermistor in the hot-end, I went through the first steps of verifying the software and operation. I guess it was a good cookie day. I'll be posting Episode 6 of my build log soon. I guess this means I'll do the...

Re: Building Betsy. A RMv2 build log
I can't find any short anywhere.
And, shipping costs for one theremistor is twice as much as the thermistor itself. Double sadness!

Re: Building Betsy. A RMv2 build log
When only the bed is plugged it, it works fine. Even heats up when I put my fingers over the top and bottom. So, it's clearly the hot-end that is messed up. But I can't see another. Heck it's even been pulled out of the hot end and I can that there are no leads touching or anything. Can I buy new th...

Re: Building Betsy. A RMv2 build log
Well that didn't work as well as I had hoped. When booting, the 'NOZ' value flashes 366 (not a negative number), then both NOZ and BED go to 'def'. While trying to examine the hotend thermistor, after untapeing it (do we really need to wrap the whole end it tape???), the termistor pulled out of the ...

Re: Building Betsy. A RMv2 build log
Thanks. And ya, I figure out about the hole afterwards as well :) I was just gonna drill a new hole. I'm about to mount the Rambo. As it happens, I have some 2mm spaced male headers. Instead of soldering the fan wires directly to the board, I get to keep the plug and just use headers :D Rath...

That made me laugh! Red Green
I found the wire mesh loom at a store here called Princess Auto of all places.
I've been in software QA and testing for 15 years. Reviewing documentation is nothing new
Cheers.
