Re: #$% skirt and first layer aren't priming
The only thing I could think of that could be easy to miss and cause something like that is a very incorrectly set filament diameter. Anyway, as you said you won't reply so this would just be for anyone stumbling into this via google.

If it's not in the gcdoe, this has literally nothing to do with the slicer.

Re: Color mixing ideas
Yes, I have worked with those mixing nozzles before. It needs quite a bit of pressure, and that would have to come from the extruder. That will have to be a super-extruder... ;-) Ah, that''s what I thought! Too bad. I had never even seen one in real life before. I imagine one could be designed that...

My idea would be a mixing nozzle like this: http://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/All-3M-Products/Tapes-Adhesives/Industrial-Tapes-and-Adhesives/Dispensers-Applicators-Accessories/Mixing-Nozzles/?N=5002385+8710676+8710815+8710959+8711017+8713603+3294857497&rt=r3 Basically, the ...

Holy sh!t! I can imagine it is rather creepy to see your own deathface like that! ;-) Impressive resolution! Interesting custom built also... The direction of the arms is skew to the position of the front towers...? I can't see what you mean. I did adjust the bed to be more try to the towers, if th...

Re: Head, not from a max, but it's spiritual successor.
Thanks everyone. I thought I had print info in the album but here goes: 80 micron layer height, filaments.ca PLA at "210" through an e3d v6 400 micron nozzle, slow speed 50mm/s and insanely low jerk of 480mm/min. 3 perimeters, no infill, some top and bottom layers close to the perimeter th...

I never figured out how to adjust it on the rostock max. On my custom printer, I raised the bed at points to be true to the towers (after I made the towers as equidistant and parallel to each other).

Re: Tower Angles to bed
I bet if you look at the specs of that tool, it is only accurate to =/- 0.3 degrees, so basically useless considering your measurements all fall within that range. I recently squared up my custom printer using a machinist square (12" one) and it worked well. You'll need something that is precis...

Re: PEI is amazing!
How long have you had the PEI? I find that for large ABS prints it is basically essential that I sand the sheet with 600 grit sandpaper beforehand to make the sheet completely smooth but matte. It gives the surface a grippy feel to it. Give that a shot, and make sure you are erring on the side of to...

Re: Not very impressed with Smoothie
626pilot, if your Duet has the small bed heater connector then it must be the older version 0.6 board. The 0.8.5 board has a much larger connector, same as the Duet WiFi. I guess you haven't looked at the RepRapFirmware source tree for a while. It isn't as flat as it used to be and I am gradually r...

Re: Lets talk Duet Controller v0.8.5 VS SmoothieBoard and LCD Screens On Max Metal Builds
Yeah, it's funny timing for 626 to come and start ranting about his dated experience with a last-generation product. I wonder if the smoothie camp is getting their haunches up over the popularity of the duet ecosystem, and they sent their ambassador to clear the mud.

Re: Not very impressed with Smoothie
Give the DuetWifi a shot, it should have all the improvements you're after (beefier hotend connector) and the ability for tons of motors. I'd like to see what smoothe 2 does, but the Duet seems much more reliable and well-thought out. It's a delivered, ready to use package whereas the smoothie has b...

Re: Printer Geometry Numbers? New vs. Old Carriages and Repetier 0.91 vs 0.92
Yes, horizontal radius in eeprom is the only value that matters. the offsets don't matter either, you can simply declare the variable in the firmware directly rather than subtracting any offsets. That is just for human (mis)understandability.

Re: Next Generation 32-Bit ARM Based 3D Printer Controller $118
Some of the specs look okay, but specs are only specs and the "proof is in the pudding" as all the reprap groupies would say. As pointed out, we don't need a 32 bit marlin wonder. I'm hoping to see viable competition from smoothie 2 pro, but so far duet seems to be king of the all-around c...

Re: Autodesk Fusion 360
Yeah, I use it a lot. I designed a printer with it. It has quirks, and changes so fast sometimes things break... so it's good that they provide such generous trial periods. I'd be upset sometimes if I were paying for the service. Overall, massive functionality for the price.

I'm going to be holding my nose and pre-ordering a couple boards, but I seriously hope they consider offering a wired Ethernet version. Wifi (only) is so cringe-worthy.

Mac, that's a feature not a bug. With new versions come new bugs, and if you depended on the workflow you were used to with a previous version, it's best to have it installed still.
