Re: My first Smoothieboard prints, wow!
so I did a bit of reading on smoothie and BBB but seems they can only handle 5 stepper motors? maybe more on the spi but not sure if you need external stepper motor spi controllers then? Is this correct ? Seems the rostock uses 4 off the shelf. 3 for motion, 1 for ezstruder. with the diamond hot end...

Re: My first Smoothieboard prints, wow!
cool. so you suggest smoothie vs beagleboard ? seems straightforward for the rest. The last comment though would default delta work on R2 ? i'm sure there are some tweeks specific more then hight/print bed size like retract etc.. finally i've been wanting to build scratch build just to learn. care t...

Re: My first Smoothieboard prints, wow!
I just started following this. I'm total Newbie with my R2. haven't really done anything fancy or tweaked too much. I just got my diamond hot end in from the kickstarter so by necessity i've been wanting to do something now :). Looks like azteeg x5, smoothieboard, or what i saw in this post beaglebo...

Re: Interesting new Diamond hotend 3x filament
trail blaizer!!.. take pictures.. how are you doing test prints? Will you start with just one color? I'm assuming some fimware changes will bee needed to control the three filament servos? That and I guess i'll have to remove my ez-struder?

Re: rostock max v2. ABS and matter control
Ok, So before I started this debugging I cleaned the hob gear. There was quite a bit of red filament there. Also even when holding down the thumb pressure thing on the hob nob and releasing pressure pulling out the red filament was really hard.. almost like it was stuck.. Having said that i just dec...

Re: rostock max v2. ABS and matter control
Hi, Thanks for the reply.. wondering if the nozzle might be clogged. it feels like less i plastic coming out.. Having said that here is some more info as requested: Longer video of the swiss cheese print. Quite flimsy but it seems to be aiming for that pattern.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/9bj5xdb7gdb...

Re: rostock max v2. ABS and matter control
Hi, Yes it's rolls fine. That and I cleaned the ez extruder completely (took it apart and cleaned the gears) before starting the test. More pictures. It's almost like it's pulsing on it's print.. Maybe it's cheap plastic ? I don't hear popping for air pockets and measuring it seems like its' pretty ...

Re: rostock max v2. ABS and matter control
Hi guys, Sorry for delay. I didn't get to play with printer until today again due to hospitalization and work to catch up :(... I tried many of the things suggested. Increased the temperatures of the prints, re-calibrated at-nausea and changed the horizontal radiu to make sure. Everything just catch...

Re: rostock max v2. ABS and matter control
oh I should have added that I already use hairspray and those were freshly washed glass and re-sprayed in order to rule out old spray. I've also used the glue to varying degree. The second grey print was one i did hairpray and then added glue on top to see if that helped any. I had the same thought ...

rostock max v2. ABS and matter control
Hola, I've been mostly using repetier and the default settings that came from SeeMeCNC but was told that MatterControl(MC) did a better job of slicing and well control :) .. All these tests are running ABS 1.75mm temp is ~220 bed is ~80 Sadly after a normal Repetier calibration (with the 4 scripts l...

Re: Finished my Rostock MAX v2.. first prints.. gazilions of
still happy with the sound. So I started printing T-glase. Worked the first try. I still need the PEEK fan and the shroud fan for layers. I'm seeing this malformed printing on top and dropping sides. top: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5b5kd127qsbus0e/2014-11-16%2021.22.37.jpg?dl=0" onclick="wi...

Re: Finished my Rostock MAX v2.. first prints.. gazilions of
Mac the Knife what do you mean?
The Rambo fan is pretty loud actually that would be a next place to try to improve. I would get the fan for Peek if I can ever print a shroud for it that works.

Re: Finished my Rostock MAX v2.. first prints.. gazilions of
I had a will so I found a way... Anyway SOOOOOOOOOOOOO quiet. Wow that is an amazing difference in sound. The calibration doesn't seem to be off by much either. Also anybody know the setting in the firmware to get the Rostock not to beep like crazy when it starts and ends ? A muted tone would be nic...

As usual Geneb. Made my day. except for this one stupid screw i can't get to on the back stepper motor.. sigh. I can't get that one unscrewed no matter what. just can't get clearance with any screw driver to get to it..

Re: Finished my Rostock MAX v2.. first prints.. gazilions of
Foiled by screws. Well I finally got the screw drivers that would fit in that tiny space and the Astroyn's. but there are two things i notice. 1. Only two screws are actually screwed into stepper motor from Astrosyn. Other two screws seem to come through the structure and the dampener and maybe into...

Hey, Ok so waiting for my Astrosyns so thought I'd post my proposed approach and see if there are any flaws or suggestions from folks. 1. Unhook the hot end to belt section connectors so that the hot end dangles since no belts in next step https://www.dropbox.com/s/klsdv6as463l03u/2014-11-12%2010.33...

Re: Finished my Rostock MAX v2.. first prints.. gazilions of
Thanks for the replies guys. Sounds like I should order the Astrosyn then. Also sounds like that might be a big project to remove the the steppers (belts top etc) re-calibrate x,y,z middle etc.. thoughts on the easiest way to go around that? I did download MatterControl so maybe i'll try that. Not s...

Hey Guys, First off I want to thank JJ from seemecnc and Geneb for all the help debugging while I was building this printer kit. Nips, So finally had a few hours to get my Octoprint connected to the Rostock. I'm seeing the same deal you are with the Rostock locking up and some commands being sent continuously. You said you spent a few hours woking on it and got it working can you provide more details? Also I have no idea how ...
