Re: Dimensions problem

With OD's being too large and ID's being too small, it sounds like you could be over extruding. (A problem I just learned that I had.) First, determine if the e-steps on the extruder are correct. I removed the boden tube and positioned the filament where it extended a few mm out the bottom of the ex...

Re: Dead Rostock Max V2

Thanks for the help. Had exactly the same issue. Did not immediately realize that tiny thing was a fuse. Ordered 10 spares as they are cheap compared to next day shipping. I blame the blown fuse on the ring light I added in parallel with the heat sink fan. The light became loose, apparently twisted ...

Re: PETG (PET)

"Oozing" from the nozzle would be accurate for PET+ as well which results in the stringy prints I mentioned. The parts I have been printing are a custom pivoting mount for a 7" touch screen so there are large internal spaces with reinforcing ribs that makes the slicer want to jump fro...

Re: JERK !!!

So, this text from the firmware source code: Caution: This is no real jerk in a physical meaning. The jerk determines your start speed and the maximum speed at the join of two segments. Its unit is mm/s. If the printer is standing still, the start speed is jerk/2. At the join of two segments, the s...

Re: PETG (PET)

I have not tried PETG, but have been using PET+ to print front panels for a laboratory instrument I've made. Love the strength and resistance to warping during print, but find it to be rather stringy and a bit pricy. I've been wondering about the differences between PET+ and PETG. I see that it has ...

Re: Graphene filament for printable batteries!

This concept seems suspect to me. Batteries typically take two different materials with a different electron-volt potential. The electrolyte allows the electrons to flow between the materials of differing potential producing voltage/current. Unless there is something special about those white 'space...

Re: JERK !!!

Acceleration is the rate that the feedrate is increased in mm per second per second. Jerk is the speed to which the feedrate will immediately jump to without applying any acceleration. Keep in mind that this also applies for slowing the nozzle down. So for example with a setting of Jerk: 35 and Acc...

Re: What to Name It?

My wife wants me to call the printer China so that my parts are "made in China". :) I've settled on ELF (extruding layer fabricator) as it works through the night and gives me completed parts the next morning.

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

I also think it may be useful to calculate the surface normal of the bed. There is some code in Smoothie that does this, and I'm looking at it to see how it's done. I don't think tilt in towers can be tested for well as that should look like changing horizontal radii or tower angles as the Z level ...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

626Pilot, Sounds like your math is much more sophisticated than my own. More like where I would like to get to. My question is what are the variables we would likely need to be able to adjust? As I said in my last post, I think there is something (or several things) going on with your system that my...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

626Pilot, I have not yet been able to replicate the measurements you provided. What's particularly difficult to emulate are both the extreme dip at the -Y position and the funky sine wave like oscillation along the line going from Z to -Z. I'll keep trying. I'm seeing if I can add other tests to the...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

I've read the whole thread pretty thoroughly now, but I'm not seeing a set of enhancements or calibration steps that will result in a decent setup. I can see that using something on the arms to tension them is very helpful as well as making sure that everything is tight as far as screws, belts, etc...

I then had additional variables for the a...

Re: Odd Thicknesses on Brim on Large Part

Just FYI the carbon fiber arms themselves dont offer much, if any, advantage. It is simply the manner in which try are fastened to the carriages and effector that improves performance. The same can be achieved by adding tension to the arms to prevent lateral play. I am agree with you on that. I got...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

I think you are all overthinking this. I can print large prints across the entire surface of the bed with even the smallest little circles sticking perfectly. If be adhesion is te only issue, then it's a simple fix. Granted if you are looking for a perfectly even base layer, you might need a new ho...

Re: Odd Thicknesses on Brim on Large Part

Replaced stock arms with carbon fiber version to eliminate play in end effector. Major improvement. Currently have full bed variation in height of just 0.16mm and about to reduce that with minor (~0.02mm) adjustments to end stops and 0.1mm change to horizontal radius. Problem was play in the end eff...

Re: HELP! Trying to Level Bed, Y Tower Driving Me Crazy!

Recap - A minor displacement in X and Y near the base of the Y tower would cause the print head to raise/lower nearly .5mm. Makes it impossible to calibrate properly. I kept going back to the play I was seeing in my end effector. Initially, it did not appear seem to be a big issue as it did take 'a ...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

Yeah. Did you read the post I made just before yours? The cable ties eliminate all play in the u joints. The rest is strictly a radius and end stop adjustment. You seem to have achieved adequate results, what further improvements are you seeking? I tried rubber bands on the stock arms which helped,...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

I have been struggling for weeks to get rid of high spots at the perimeter midway between all three towers. End stops and radius only got me so far. Did not have any clear signal suggesting it was tower rotation as all points were similarly high. I did notice a fair amount of play on the end effecto...

I have now spent a couple of weeks trying to dial in my RMax V2 bed leveling in order to print large objects I need for my business. Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet

Getting a little closer... I found a screw on my z skate that I failed to tighten during the build. It was on the Y tower side of the Z tower and at the top of the skate near the arm's u-joint. Getting the hidden screw tight was the start of getting consistent (but not yet perfect) results. Before t...
