Re: Considering a Max Metal, but would like to make it black
Not sure if the part number listed on the metal max description is incorrect or not because part 1003 goes to a completely different dimension profile but going by the dimensions ... i found a black version of the part I think he's using? https://8020.net/shop/2012-black-fb.html" onclick="...

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build
I decided to pull the trigger on my Max metal build. Question on the t-nuts. Do the ones that came with the rostock max v2 work with the max metal? Also according to the assembly manual the nuts are supposed to be 1/4-20 threads so uh isn't this the "right" roll-in t-nuts if we wanted to r...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet
Not sure if this applies to you... but check if your snowflake/top part of the melamine base is flat... Mine is domed and it was throwing off my calibrations for the longest time.

Re: Extruder is not functioning
use a multimeter and verify you get continuity on two pairs of wires. Make sure these two pairs match the rambo pinout. Make sure you plugged in the extruder stepper into the right extruder port on the rambo.

Re: Onyx Bed Temperature Is Not Stabilizing
Well the thing is, you gotta have something thats giving false readings to your microcontroller. The stock bed can't jump from 80c to 140c... unless your talking about your hotend? either way something is changing the resistance drastically.

Check and make sure your glass/onyx/heated bed insulator/top base melamine plate is flat with a straightedge first.

Re: Assembly manual discussion thread!
Question: Shouldn't the manual be modified so the bed is NOT over-constrained? I recently found out that my machine (mid 2014) has the top base plate and the snowflake warped into a dome shape. According to various posts in this forum it's supposedly caused by using all 6 mounting screw to prevent t...

Re: So after weeks of scratching my head...
Unfortunately it's not new. Got it approximately around august 2014... However I've done barely any printing on it. Maybe 2 month's worth of total print time was tallied before the eeprom got corrupted due to a unstable 12v issue. (Reflashing it fixed that problem). After flashing I've racked up may...

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build
I've been considering building a max metal as well... However in my mind I have no idea how to mount the heated bed. The snowflake in my current rostock max v2 has completely warped along with the top layer of the base. Anyone have any ideas on how to prevent this from happening and how to mount it ...

Re: So after weeks of scratching my head...
Ok. Taking apart the printer just to get to the base is a huge pain in the ass. But I have it now removed from my printer. Holding one corner down on my glass table (totally flat), I measure about 3-4mm of displacement along the opposite edges. The center is bowed upwards toward the heated bed. Anyo...

Re: Extruder PID Autotune not working at 128C! HELP!!!
uh. what temperature are you trying to reach? PID drive max is the percentage of X/256 = what percent of the time the heater can be on. so for example a value of 128 is 50%. The heater can only be on 50% of the time. If you raise it to 256/256, then the heater can be on 100% of the time. So try rais...

So after weeks of scratching my head...
I've realized that the top base melamine plate is warped like crazy. In the process of tearing apart the printer now to see if I can figure out wtf is causing it to be warped so bad. Anyone else see this before? You really notice it when trying to see if your towers are square.

Get a thermocouple from ebay or something. Either way, if you've got a similar thermistor, the settings above should work.

Protip: Don't forget to adjust your thermistor values
Use this for the e3d v6 hotend thermistor: M305 P1 T100000 B4388 R4700 H30 L0 Was wondering why the extruder was having a hard time pushing filament... turns out the sensor temperature was reading higher then it was. As for the bed: M305 P0 T100000 B4286 R4700 H30 L0 This optimizes it slightly for t...

How fast are you able to upload a file?
Trying to figure if I need a faster microsd card or something because I'm getting ~250-300kbps and it's really painful when uploading 50mb gcode files.
Edit: I'm connected via gigabit switch through the web interface.

FYI: if you use cura to generate gcode
Put M83 right after G91 in end g-code to prevent your extruder retracting all the way and unloading your filament after your print is done.

Yeah, except my bed constantly expands or contracts. 40 minutes into a print the bed has dropped another .2mm or so. It feels like it takes forever to reach thermal equilibrium.... and I think the stock firmware auto-off's the heaters after like 30 minutes? You're not experiencing this oddity, are ...
