Re: Max V2 Cura Repetier host settings

Do you know which version of Cura that was exported from? I'm trying to get local slicing in OctoPrint to work and am struggling with getting a functional Cura profile for the Max V2. The Cura engine in OctoPrint requires using V15.04 or earlier due to profile file format changes.

Re: Dirt cheap thermal barrier

Thanks for the correction - You're right, "Hanger Iron" seems to be a much better search term (Home Depot calls it "Hanger Strap"). Looks like the going rate is $3-$4 for 10ft (Lowes was $3). I just had a big roll lying around anyway since I'd been using it for other projects. I ...

Dirt cheap thermal barrier

I thought I'd post my quick & dirty thermal barrier mod for the Rostock. It's helped quite a bit in terms of minimizing issues with drafts and the interior temp seems to run ~10 degrees warmer. YMMV based on materials. Anyway, it's a shower curtain, some metal perforated strip (often called &quo...

Re: Tower of Pi attempt

This is just cruel and unusual punishment on the Bowden extruder. It has to retract a bit between each move between character legs. Sounds like a pneumatic nail gun. There's definitely a bad corner to the print, I'm guessing one of the cassettes is sloppy.

That's the problem with me and printed stuff, I always check out the pictures and never get to the articles.

Re: Adventures in Printing 2 - "Whoa, that doesnt look like

Good catch, Polygonhell - I did go back and re-bend the wires to not touch, as well as scraped away the few bits of solder left that had flowed over the RTV. The fan shroud also acts as an insulator, so I'm less worried about shorting out.

Adventures in Printing 1 - 'That doesn't line up'

After what I thought was a spectacularly easy build (only 1 trip to the parts store and no blood sacrifice - a bad sign, to be sure)... I should have figured something was wrong when I finished my first print of the shroud. [img]https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ApcKBtauMFA/U4tU6o1UyoI/AAAAAAABg8w/...

Re: More Oregonians!

Woot! Built the Rostock is just over a 3 day weekend - Got a little hung up due to incorrect wiring (I think I was actually missing some), but other than that, the build was awesome. Excellent tuning instructions - printing my first print (the fan shroud) now.

Thanks guys!

Re: More Oregonians!

Thanks! Most of the pain with the Mendel is that there's so many variables (extruder from one source, hot head from another, X motor type, etc) that it's hard to get it all dialed in. With the Max, it's all same-sourced, so the tips/tweaks/values should be a lot more consistent.

More Oregonians!

Checking in from Beaverton. I picked up a Rostock Max at the Maker Faire in San Mateo. I've been futzing around with 3D printers since day 1 (or close to it) starting with trying to make something called at McWire out of pipes and lucite. That ended up being a total disaster, but hugely educational ...
