Re: Require manufacturers to label materials used
MSDS is generally only for chemicals. Not the material used to make the packaging or case for an iPod. That is what I want to know about. So the consumer can decide to buy or not to buy.

Re: Durable Jeans?
Apparently Levis is making poor quality now. I found this thread that mentioned Lucky jeans. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1167914_What_is_with_the_poor_quality_of_levis_Jeans_.html Edit: Can't help you on brand as I don't even own any jeans. I wear slacks I buy at thrift stores. I am a cheap clo...

Re: Extruder gouging filament, run out of ideas
I sort of went the route you described. Did get it cleared out. Then tried again and it was not letting me feed faster than 25mm/min or not much faster. So I took an exacto and gently reamed out the tip of the nozzle. Now it seems to run just fine (crossing fingers). I did find a some nasty dust cra...

You are right. This market is going to get really competitive as well too. Some of the first companies may not make it.

Okay, something else is wrong. I tried a simple job that worked fine before and it is kicking back. So there is something clogged I think.

Re: Extruder gouging filament, run out of ideas
I am seeing this issue almost verbatim. I can print an object that is 4" x 4.5", but when I try to print an 8" x 4.5" object I get all sorts of kickback to the extruder feed. Basically I cannot print larger objects that take up more of the bed. There are no restrictions whatsoeve...

What was the layer thickness? I zoomed in on a picture and I cannot see any lines! Did you do any post treatment? Like acetone vapor or sanding?

Welcome fellow Arduino programmer! I use them for home and work all the time. Love the Arduino and Arduino style designs (Uno32, and Teensy 3.1). I also have an Arduino Yun, which is awesome on its own! Yeah, I am making enclosures for PC104 boards and the Uno32 for an industrial robot. Plus I plan ...

Welcome! My first mod was modeling and printing a fan body replacement for my peek fan. The next one was a 24VDC supply for my heated bed. Right now I am working on designing plastic clips to hold the borosilicate in place versus the paper clips. I think you will find you just need things to be diff...

Dutchman, I am also an Electrical guy. Been doing process control and robotics for about 18 years now. Currently doing robotics in the petroleum industry. The Rostock Max V2 is an excellent machine. If you have a firm grasp of simple mechanical systems this will be a great printer for you. It really...

Re: Rostock Max V2 Finally Alive!
Just gotta say the Rostock Max V2 is a really good machine. Very configurable, simple design, relatively simple to build and get working. The forums here are awesome and lots of info can be found just searching around a bit. Really saved me time trying to figure things out on my own. The people who ...

Re: Makerbot 5th Generation: Slop and Wiggle
atoff, I have been thinking about this a little bit. I am guessing it works well enough for the general customers that buy them. If it priced at a quality versus price break point and people are happy with the turn key system there is no issue. I have watched the slop on my own machine and realized ...

Re: The Maker Chair project
Well my mechanical engineer friend is getting more serious about making a low detail printer on his plasma table. He wants to print parts for an electric motorcycle. So this chair could be printed fast in much fewer parts. Sounds like we will be pursuing that soon. He keeps bugging me about it... ;)...

Re: Auto-Calibration - $100 Bounty and Bragging Rights
I don't have anything to add, but last night I was thinking about auto calibrating as I was manually calibrating my machine. I wonder if a touchscreen overlay could work? Something that is pressure sensitive and can be laid temporarily on the bed maybe. It would have to have a known uniform thicknes...

Re: Require manufacturers to label materials used
I was more thinking end user products. Like the labels you see on food. Yes, I could see this being difficult. However, companies would have the option to label their materials as proprietary. Then the end user can decide if they want to buy a product that actually tells you what they used or use a ...

Require manufacturers to label materials used
What if we could get it so manufacturers had to label the product or provide literature about the materials used to manufacture the product? This would only really be required by OEMs. So an OEM that makes a MP3 player would only have to provide information about packaging (the case) and provide a p...

Spot on Eric. I made the assumption in my post that people knew I was only changing the heated bed rail. I just added a note early in the post that indicates this. Thanks for finding another issue that might cause problems for someone. It is those pesky assumptions that cause other people to swear s...
