Re: A good replacement for 123D Design?
Thanks, guys! I actually just got 123D to work again, but I will definitely be looking into this one tonight. It's getting so that I spend more time troubleshooting than designing.

A good replacement for 123D Design?
I absolutely loved 123D Design. I say loved, because now it runs when it wants to, crashes in the middle of projects, the online version seems to be gone, and I've lost all of the models I had designed. Has anyone used a simple click and drag type CAD software like it? Fusion 360 isn't nearly as int...

Turtle can.
I have a friend who wanted a really small waste can for his hobby desk. He's also a fan of the Ninja Turtles. He seemed very pleased.

Hotend lifting
My hotend is lifting in the 2 spots marked on the bed. It starts gradually, but inside those marks, it's .75mm higher than anywhere else. I leveled the machine, then checked the level of the bed, and it's good. I checked the flatness of the bed with a straightedge, and it's good. I re-calibrated the...

Re: Temp for bright PLA
I did 4 test cubes, one with each color I currently have, at 100%. I measured the 4 walls of 3 of them and averaged them together. They came up .57 on a .55 extrusion width, not bad for 12 measurements IMO. I would have done the green one, but it wasn't a cube. It was a little pile of green beads an...

Temp for bright PLA
I'm doing a print using neon green Filamex PLA. To get good flow and a good surface, I have to run 210 degrees and 140% flow as compared to my other colors at 192 degrees and 100%. It's printing good at that, it just seems really hot for PLA, just wondering if this is common for bright colors. BTW, ...

No problem. I have another one that's just an open tray. I'll post both.

Re: Small tool tray for Rostock Max V2
This was more a refresher course in CAD, but here's my final version. Fits really tight and holds all the bits and blades I use on a regular basis.

Re: Battery organizer
I usually keep 4 units ready to go with different flavors in them. Also, there are 2 of us using the same battery pool, and we both sub-ohm with mechanicals and RBA's which eat up battery life. Then, there is the slight addiction to equipment....

Re: Battery organizer
Thanks! Here's the filament, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BI1 ... UTF8&psc=1 I printed the shell 1 mm thick and you can see the infill through it when light hits it just right. It kinda bounces the light around inside, too. Neat stuff.

Battery organizer
My girlfriend and I use E-cigs and have quite a collection. That means we also have quite a few batteries laying around, so I designed and printed an organizer for the charger and batteries. A friend saw it and wanted a purple one. I love this pearlescent filament.

Re: Noob question about estimated print time
I'm learning that. Back in the day, I worked with BobCAD/CAM and Haas machines, and you could set your watch by the ETC, so this just threw me for a loop.

Re: Noob question about estimated print time
Here it is. i think it's just being crazy on estimates. It also estimated 225 meters of filament, and this shouldn't take over 40. I timed the last 2 layers and I'm figuring around 10 hours, give or take.

Re: Noob question about estimated print time
It's a model I designed, do you need the gcode from Slicer or the STL? Sorry for not following some of this, I haven't dealt with CNC for about 6 years, a lot has changed. lol

Noob question about estimated print time
I'm doing my first decent sized print. I sliced it with Cura, which is what I've been using most often, and for some reason it was skipping the same line in the base layer no matter what setting I used. No problem, switched to Slic3r/Repetier-Host. Now the problem: a 10 hour print in Cura is showing...

Small tool tray for Rostock Max V2
I built these in 123Design. I still have a little bit of tweaking to do before I call it a success, but, they work for now. Once the tweaking is all done, I'm going to add a tool holder to the one on the right side.

Re: Can't override slic3r settings
I found the issue. The layer height in the override settings needs to have a zero before the decimal point i.e. "0.4" instead of ".4" I copied the print settings to the override which replaced the layer height with what was in the configuration setting but it didn't have the zer...

Both fan shrouds printed and installed with minimum problems. Printing a pair of batarangs now so I can toy with settings. I think this build is a success! *Drops mic, leaves stage*

Re: Ricky Spanish's build.
Update: Well, UPS dropped the ball and didn't pick my axles up yesterday, so they won't be here until Monday. Patience is a virtue, right? WRONG! I made a set out of some really stiff 1/8" rod that I polished down. first print is going now. Will update soon.

Ricky Spanish's build.
Received it yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, 3 of the u-joint axles were missing, or I'd be printing tonight! Since I can't leave things alone, and knew I'd be modding in the future, I added the two flex conduit drops to make future wiring expansion easier, The small one on the right contains onl...

Hello from Indiana.
Hello all! I just ordered a Rostock Max V2. I hope it doesn't take too long to get up and running, since I have work for it already, but it seems like the community is very helpful and supportive, so that shouldn't be an issue. I have a background in machining and some experience with CNC machinery,...
