On more of a basic level, are you not supposed to edit a gcode file, like a text file? Maybe the printer doesn't recognize edits somehow.

Well its not the retraction settings.

This seems to be speed related. As the slower areas do not cause the skipping. My speed settings are:

• Print Speed = 60
  Travel Speed = 50
  Bottom Layer = 30
  outer shell = 25
  infill, top/bottom & inner shell all have 0 (meaning they inherit the 60 speed)

Ah, thank you very much for various things to try.

Probably a basic question (which I love getting in my working day), but is there a 'process' for switching a spool of material mid print? Or is this not possible and never to be mentioned again.. LOL

If it matters, I have the RoStock Max V2 and typically print in ABS.

I hired a modeler from Italy and it was approx $75 USD. Which was okay for me as this was above my skill level and now I have a model in case the owner of that business wants more (larger or smaller).

Just to conclude this post.. I was reminded of the site UpWork.com and posted a job to make this model. The artist worked on this on/off all week and now the model has been printed... TaDa..

And once again I reminded of what a great world this is. From thought to reality, it can be done..

Print #2 went much better. But still split in a couple of places.

My house temp in that room is 74 degrees. Is this just a cooling issue that an enclosure might fix? I dont print many long prints like this (7hrs)
