carriage / arm upgrade. horiz radius and dia rod length?
I just upgraded my orion from the previous model by adding the new injection molded carriages and ball joint arms. I read in the instructions that when upgrading carriage you need to change horizontal radius to 84.5 from 57.1. and when upgrading arms change radius to 89 from 57.1 also change diagona...

Re: Pan and Tilt camera platform
here is updated dropcam design with recently 3d printed parts. have be using t-glase and recently esun petg for material with very good results. have printed parts with upto 90% infill (top and bottom rings on rail mount) for very strong parts. Things i would use to make out of HDPE sheet now i just...

slight lean to cylinder print
I have printed several hollow cylinders about 3/4 inch dia and 1 and 1/2 inch high. the completed print looks good in
every aspect but there is a very slight lean to the vertical axis (like the leaning tower of pisa). can anyone comment of the possible cause and solution
to this issue.
thanks

printed out super ultra low profile shroud and tested on orion delta with new seemecnc extruder platform and e3dv5 works for me

Re: Aluminum and carbon fiber E3d V6 mount. RELEASED!
just a quick note, the 45mm custom length i used caused the old stock layer fan to hang to low, and the length could stand to be a few mm shorter but doing so would bring the extruder fan shroud up against the base (tight fit) so i chose to stay with 45mm and mod the layer fan shrouds. will post my ...

Re: Aluminum and carbon fiber E3d V6 mount. RELEASED!
Just installed this new mount on orion with e3dv5 and the new seemecnc base plate with 3 layer fans
modified the old layer fan style shrouds but trying out the ultra low profile from the previous link post.
using a custom length standoff for the mount of 45mm.

Re: High pressure fitting.
wow that is impressive and unexpected. I am making 3d parts (not life critical) to be used in seawater upto 200- 300 ft deep, and this is a good sign. also considering coating with http://www.smooth-on.com/index.php?cPath=1429&osCsid=3v1cbk36dlns1e75baj3pter00 for an even better seal. what do yo...

Re: Pan and Tilt camera platform
the drop camera has two ntsc video cameras at this point. one is mounted on a pan tilt platfom facing downward with fixed lighting, the other camera is facing out of the tube housing horizontally and pans only, the led light is mounted on a similar pan platfom about 12 to 14 inches above the pan cam...

Pan and Tilt camera platform update
got to love these 3d printers! printed two more servo pan units for LED light and a video camera placed in acrylic housing also decided to make a rotor vane type water current meter, worked out great, printed at 70 % infill will with black t-glase will use a coating to water seal. http://www.smooth-...

Re: Pan and Tilt camera platform
I had a question if anyone might have a idea what happens to a 3d printed part that uses say 40% infill to 70 % infill when put under high pressure water say 150 psi or submerged to 300 ft depth. Will the part remain intact and usefull just full of water or will it be damaged? I ask because i'm wond...

oh no now you got me started!, The sub is almost an ROV, it is a drop camera that may be upgraded to an rov in the future by adding (4) BlueRobotics thrusters. It uses a 4.5" O.D. acrylic tube and dome housing by BlueRobotics. The tube is oriented vertically with the dome facing downward. The p...

Re: Pan and Tilt camera platform
I have tested the slip ring with color video camera ntsc analog signal and the servo power and signal at the same time without any problem. here is a pan/tilt video camera platform i've been working on. uses RC continuous rotation servos for pan and tilt. still have to add some limit switches for tilt axis. has a rotary slip ring on the pan axis for continuous panning. Orion/E3d v5 and taulman alloy 910
Hi, i am trying to print with taulman alloy 910 with an e3d v5 hotend, the thermistor is a EPCOS B57560G104F I can't seem to be able to set the extruder temp above 247 C either from the sd card gcode or external PC host, although it goes above and below that while trying to hold the 247 temp. Anothe...

Fiberoptic splitter/couplers
I have been experimenting with making low cost fiber optic splitter/coupler for underwater ROV/AUV project. Some researchers had made coupler/splitter with acrylic and a cnc mini mill. So tried it with an Orion instead, it works, though I'd like to improve signal loss performance https://www.dropbox...

Taulman Alloy 910?
Hi, I have been using T-Glase as my goto filament for many successful prints. I like its accuracy, strength, finish, low or no odor prints, bed adhesion, no jamming. etc. I have just read about the new alloy 910 and am considering trying it out and would like to know anyone else experience with it? ...

Re: Thruster motor for underwater AUV/ROV
Well, as far as running depths go I was going to start with the local rec center pool 10-12 ft max. Have not really pressure tested it beyond my kitchen sink. Think I need some kind of pressure cooker modified for more testing.

Re: Thruster motor for underwater AUV/ROV
I have never printed in ABS as my goto material is T-glase, I was concerned about ABS fumes since my printer not enclosed and in my living quarters. Smoothing out I something i might try, I remember seeing something online about a coating used on T-glase that makes it smooth and transparent.

Thruster motor for underwater AUV/ROV
Just wanted to share my experiment on how cheaply I could make a nice underwater thruster motor for AUR/ROV project I'm thinking about. Re: Parts for Science Exhibit, WaterDrop machine
There is a infrared optical sensor in the water drop stream. When an individual water drop breaks the beam the controller board generates a delay, when that expires the UV strobe fires, illuminating the water drop. the delay is adjustable thus you can view the drop at various times in the event. Vie...
