Pulling orion 2 out of mothballs

I want to start printing again. My printer has been in 50-120F garage for 10 years. Is it safe to start? What do I need to do to get it ready to print? Looking for advice on: restoring printer, current software, and should I invest in hotter head, or have materials advanced to need less heat? As I r...

Re: Print and Make Money

the site seems too expensive. As a beginner I am not comfortable estimating the price, and knowing that they were charging 15% on top of that - and you can't get their phone number until they pay an invoice. I get about 1 inquery /week from them, and 1 job / week with interesting people from CL. If ...

plan for acetone chamber. electrical/shopping advice needed.

I've been daydreaming about this for a couple of days, and was hoping for some advice. I did very limited research on acetone vapor chambers and they all seems like difficult, jury rigged, expensive contraptions that require significant practice to operate Here's my idea, assumptions and resources I...

We broke up AT&T once. And although my brain is 98% geared towards cynicism, You gotta give the folks over 40 a break - This network of tubes that Gore gave us is pretty complicated. I don't think politicians use the net for much more than email. We need to explain to them how dystopic a situati...

I dunno, They only joined 2 days ago, and are clearly busy starting a business. I imagine they joined 10 forums 2 days ago and are trying to drum up a business that purports to supply quality filament at a great price (time will tell though, and their selection sucks so far) That goal seems good for...

i realize this is a really old thread, but I seem to be having the same problem. no warning/fail notice. I cropped my pic down to 9.85Kb, and when I select my JPG nothing happens. Re: Battery organizer

you have 16ish batteries?! I've been using the same 3 for about 4 months now. one in the am, one when i get home, and one extra so i always have one charging. do you find they last for more charges if you let them rest more? or are there just a lot of extra spaces?

I know nothing about cars but I do drive a miata for work, and plan on using my printer to make it a bit more comfortable. you don't happen to have any 3d models of a 2000 interior do you? I just want to make form fitting stuff with out prototyping 5 times just to get it to fit.

net nutrality and 3d printing (thin connection? maybe)

I don't know if you pay attention to this topic, but to me it seems that all other news is secondary to it's method of delivery. The FCC just told the big telcom's that the internet should be shaped like broadcast TV of 30 years ago, and so I went to my congress woman's office for the first time in ...

so... did anyone review the patent? this process doesn't seem all that valuable to me unless you can skip printing the supports. here's my million dollar idea - an end stop block kit. you could have a variety of precisely measured supports with an end stop button built in, or even a lego set with el...

man, we can't even get foods to be labeled GMO in CALIFORNIA. This needs to be attacked from the grass roots level. I am very interested in getting a filastruder, or preferably splitting one 3 ways with some locals (Shout out San Jose peeps!) and if I had access to one, I'd totally be down with some...

quick question about low rez printing

so, I have generally been doing <0.2 layers, and they look good, flat. but i recently tried to do 0.4 layers with a 0.5 nozzle and the rows of plastic were spaced very far apart. I could fit my finger nail between the rows. after some research, it seems like this can be addressed in your slicer with...

Re: Any Idea On How To Fix This?

I too just learned why we have peek fans :? The wire broke off of my peek fan plug - too much movement at the crimp site I think and the brass part (bowden connector?) got jammed. I could not unplug the PTFE tube (too slippery) so I cut it and then yanked it out with a couple pliers. but now the con...

i just started using cura and .7 nozzle too. i was only prototyping for size, so i think my layers were .6 the problem i had was that solid layers had large gaps between each rowof plastic; more than enough to fit my thumbnail in with room to spare. is there a setting i need to change to make sure t...

Re: Injected Hot Glue for solid, fast, cheap 3D prints

i like your second idea, but i dont think less than 100% infill wold work very well with glue. i think it would start to sag pretty quick. and thats if you could get it to solidify in the right shape during the print. Also you would lose some of the speed, which seems like the main reason to use glu...
