HE 280 acceleromteter failed?

Wondering if my accelerometer might've got zapped with a static discharge and cooked (unfortunately our house gets quite dry in the winter and static is a major issue). Suddenly getting errors in the console: 09:35:34.323 : iis2dh accelerometer initializing... 09:35:34.340 : accelerometer i2c recv f...

Re: HE 280 bowden tube seating

Just had this re-occur on my HE280 after having it work perfectly for a number of years. Maybe repeated heat/cool cycles loosened things a bit, or maybe the bowden tube didn't completely seat properly at some point after I had a filament jam I had to remove. At any rate, it seems to be fixed now aft...

Value for the pot that controls LCD contrast?

Does anyone know what the value for the surface mount pot is that controls LCD contrast is (mine is a Max V2 if that matters)? Mine seems to be going flaky and has a hair trigger. One micrometer either direction and it's unusable. Was thinking about hitting it with a shot of deoxit, but wouldn't hur...

Re: Resume from a Power Outage?

I've attempted to restart failed prints with some success but it is never perfect - and it requires a deep knowledge of gcode. I've done a restart (not from a full power outage, but from when I had a filament break and had to re-feed and re-prime the extruder). It took some careful tinkering to fin...

Re: Looking for builders or assembled units

Thanks for the leads. I've read the build manual a few times now and can visualize it. My initial concerns have subsided so I am in the process of acquiring all the tools other items not included with the kit. Shouldn't be long now... Thanks and regards, Peter Have fun! It's a fairly lengthy build ...

Re: Assembly manual discussion thread!

They're actually not symmetrical. You'll notice that the hole spacing is farther apart on one side then the other. The 4 bearing holes make a trapezoid and not a square. Ya, that's true. I just meant that the centering of the delta arm mounting bracket on the skates were symmetrical, so even if you...

Re: Finished my build

Anyone have a temp or speed they stick with using PLA? Congrats! I've been using bed at 60c and hotend at 205c for PLA, which seems to work pretty well for me. I found that the fan shroud is a pretty good indicator of machine calibration - setting the extruder steps/mm and filament diameter is espe...

Re: need to adjust the bed, how?

I'm going to look into that acetone smoothing. My students badgered me into making a big green Yoda head and it has a few rough spots. It's pretty easy to do. Acetone isn't especially dangerous (except for being flammable), and it's very fast! It eats plastic like crazy though, so careful not to sp...

Re: need to adjust the bed, how?

Going to try the updated firmware and calibration process. Using ABS, 218 C extruder temp & 80 C bed temp. Using Elmer's purple and clear disappearing with same results. Just a thought - if you haven't tried printing with PLA, you might want to give it a go - I've found it's far superior to ABS...

Re: U joint issue

I also removed the the u-joints and added some white lithium grease to the metal bearings where they connect to the arms, and also on the edges (they appeared to be rubbing on the sides of the effector platform). I did not add any lubrication in the middle of the bearing where the pins are positione...

Re: Cura 14.03 Wow!

What are some of Cura problems atm? , beside that horrible end code which I havent tried to remove yet. Few things I've found: It does some very odd, fast hotend movements at times, which don't seem to have any rhyme or reason, especially as it doesn't seem to be extruding filament as it moves. Wis...

Re: The Mystery of the Missing Hole

Got the missing hole and I ordered a black kit - got a white one. Back in April I ordered the white kit and got the black one. Go figure. I've seen it happen a few times, think they need to check their orders better. But it's really just an aesthetic thing - it prints the same either way, and at th...

Re: So many slicers, what to use?

I swear by Simplify3D, I honestly cannot even remember the last time I sliced with KISS (Own it too, paid my money for the full version, never been a single update, sorta feel a little ripped about that), I also used Slic3r alot in the past, but again not since I have been using S3D. As you get more comfortable with gcode editing, you may also find that you want to adjust the speed dynamically in your gcode files. I've been printing lightsabers for the last couple of weeks (fairly complex models, lots of printing!), and have started to include automatic speed adjustments in the ...

Re: printing from USB vs SDcard

I usually print from a virtual PC inside my Mac (because Repetier for the Mac kind of sucks - doesn't get many updates). I can usually print just fine from the virtual PC, however if I'm doing something processor intensive (rendering video files, etc), then I find that the print slows down, or start...

Re: Assembly manual discussion thread!

Okay, I got the inner plate direction of the cheapskate wrong on all 3 assemblies. The reason I got it wrong is because I thought the manual was telling me that I should line up the inner plate with the eyes pointing to the right, then attach the plastic piece to the front of the inner piece in tha...

Re: Blew out some pixels in LCD (static)

I don't know if the pins on the LCD would allow that though. Ya, that would have probably worked if I cut them in the middle with a dremel cutting wheel and then unsoldered just the pins. Unfortunately I didn't have the 16-pin standoff header available to replace it on both circuit boards, so I nee...

Re: Stock Hotend bracket rod slipping

The new hot end bracket has these short metal rods that attach everything together. One of mine is slipping, the other 2 seem stationary or to have a tendancy to slip toward the fan which blocks them from moving. I first noticed it after it had come apart. I was able to push it back in with my fing...

I also found that calibrating my extruder steps/min significantly helped getting the PEEK shroud printed properly without any filing. Is that the link in the build manual you followed to calibrate the extruder feed? I actually used this one: http://richrap.blogspot.ca/2012/01/slic3r-is-nicer-part-1...
