Excellent work. I like that you've done everything yourself from the ground up. The thing looks great. What's the expected range with the transmitter and battery combo?

Re: Xnaron Printable Magnetic u-joint option for Rostock Max

I used them for a number of months, but ultimately went to the trick laser arms. Pros: Quick changing hot ends (if you have multiple types) Nice lines as there is virtually zero play Cons: Failed prints from effector coming off 20140507_062912.jpg I had MANY failed prints because of this. If the hot...

Re: Is there a Rostock Max V3 on the Horizon?

An all-metal Rostock MAX is easy. Just grab the DXF files off github and take them to your local waterjet cutter. Just make sure you're sitting down when they quote you a price for the job. :) g. $700 for the jetting, plus the material. I could buy a new Rostock by the time that was through. I'd ra...

Glad to read that you're sticking Around. As many others have already mentioned, you're one of the cornerstones of this forum. I'm going to be bummed to not see the blinking eagle in every thread anymore. I hope you find some sort of relief or ease in the future.

Re: Canola Convert

I do however have one filament that I cannot get to print. It's a black PLA and it jams before I can get from the Home position to the bed. Black filament is notorious for having crappy fillers that manufacturers can't get away with using on other colors. If everything except one filament runs thro...

Wow! You deliver quickly! How do you find it? The lizard looks really good. Do you find you get much smearing of colors? I see the cube, but not sure if it's intentional looking at the lizard print and how clean it came out. How did I find the lizard/dragon? Or? http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:173...

Re: Canola Convert

Over the last week I've been doing a pile of different retraction tests and hollow pyramids to try different retract speed and lengths in order to find a sweet spot. I've ended up at about 25mm/s speed and 3.2mm for length. The largest improvement though, was going from Cura to KISSlicer. I absolute...

Articulating nozzle for blower fan

I kept having issues finding a fan that would attach at just the right height from changing hot ends. I would have the stock hot end, then use a different PEEK fan set up which would change the nozzle height, or I'd mount it on top of the effector or underneath if need be. Then I got an E3D and then...

Re: Want to buy, got the newbie fears

I've got over 55 days of printing on my Rostock and have never had a problem with the resistors. I think when people are talking about the resistors burning up, it's due to a thermistor coming loose from the hot end. If it pops out, it doesn't register as being hot enough so the resistors keep heati...

Re: Canola Convert

Ok, what are your retract settings - length and speed? Length: 1.6mm, speed 20mm/s. This is something I'm going to be toying with once I get a print with lots of retracts. I just wanted to see if I could keep the hot end extruding for now. I came downstairs to my printer this morning to this: 20150...

Make sure there aren't any burs. I tried to be very methodical with the finish of the drilling. Used a magnifying eye piece to make sure I didn't end up with any burs as I know they can be a huge problem. I used this (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:197152" onclick="window.open(this.href...

can you post a photo of the plug? It sounds like you have a gap from improper setup. 20150118_131120.jpg That's what the plug typically looks like. I'm not sure what I could have done wrong from the proper setup. I've got the tiny gap between the shoulder of the nozzle and the heater block. Heated ...

Re: Canola Convert

Thanks for the replies guys. Once the nozzle is up to temp, I can manually feed filament through like a champ. Melts a nice consistent bead and I could just keep going. Stop feeding for a couple seconds (not pulling any back or anything like that to mimic a retract of any sort) and try again... plug...
