Re: DX.com (Deal Extreme) Cautionary Tale
When the heck is this Chinese new year and how long does it last? I inquired about a 3d scanner a few days ago and got a slow response back because of it.

Re: Printing With Machinable Wax Filament?
Its difficult to print with, has shrinkage problems, layer bonding problems, and doesnt like to stick to the bed unless you glue a piece of paper to it. Like I said you need to do the extruder mod that is located on this forum for printing ninja flex. ;) http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&...

Re: Removing print from plate!
Strongly suggest against using force to remove the print from the plate. Eventually you will pull chunks of glass out of the plate and then you'll need a new one. What always works for me is putting the plate in the freezer for 10 mins. It should pop off with almost no force. Sometimes I open the f...

Re: 3D printers: gateway drug?
Similar story here. Had really been wanting a cnc mill but th budget didnt allow for it at the time. Saw video on Y/T about lost pla casting (3dtopo) and decided it was something I wanted to try as I already had been casting metal for some years. Found a locale printer on 3d hubs and asked for some ...

Re: Printing small objects - Marvin
How much finishing/polishing did you do on the prints pre casting? how much polishing and buffing did the bronze (brass?) require? I dont bother with cleaning up the print at all. Once the print is cast I run them on the buffr with some black emery which cuts very quickly. The small parts take less...

I know marvin well.... print at 10mm/sec and set a 40 mm fan up to blow across the bed between his legs. .4 mm nozzle is fine

Re: Making Really Strong Parts
Sand cast in aluminum would be the route i would take. Ive tried some of the pkastics from smooth on and they are not too bad, but i dont think i would trust my weight on any of them. Investment casting can be as expensive, or inexpensive as you want it to be. I had $0.00 in my first vacuum chamber ...

Re: Injection molding machine
Injection pressure 5,000 psi. Clamping force, bit difficult to figure out but with the toggle clamp .125" above the horizontal lock point it is 25 tons. Injection speed hmm didnt look into it yet.
Its going to be a manual machine, but maybe one day i will automate it.

Just the one as far as i know. Its something i have been working up to for a couple of years now maybe one day i will actually get it built.
Started the injection molder 2 weeks ago. Expect to be a couple of months on it provided everything goes well.

sometimes its just about repetition.... once you set up a toggle clamp clap press, it may take a couple of times to hit dimension. But once you do it will be repeatable... Thats what I'm trying to say, simple, repeatable... I also feel overmolding would be simple and accurate, Maybe thats just me b...
