Re: Sad day guys - Eaglezsoar has left us

Like many of the previous posts, Carl was also the first to welcome me to the forum and help answer questions I had. He certainly made me feel a part of this community and I'll miss his posts, his humor and his encouragement!

I hope to see you in heaven, Carl!

Re: Faster Heated Bed

After posting my reply, I went out and searched on how to hook up a DC-DC relay and found this: http://www.crydom.com/en/tech/tips/dc%20relays-technical%20guidelines.pdf which seems to indicate that the SSR can be either on the + side or - side of the load. However, for me it didn't work when I had ...

I'm kinda scared to do the 24v update. So please, excuse the silly question, but why does my SSR have different outputs? Both will handle a + load so... does it matter where to connect the + psu or the + bed? rpress SSR (Albertus Magnus thread http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=6539...

Re: Faster Heated Bed

I'm using a Crydom D1D40 and it's working great (I got mine for $15 off ebay which was a SUPER bargain). My heatsink is just a 1/4" piece of aluminum plate although it doesn't get hot at all (I can touch it without even noticing a temperature delta while the bed is heating). I go from 20c to 1...

Re: Introducing: Albertus Magnus

Hi folks, I got all of the parts to put together 24v heating for my bed, including a Crydom D1D40 SSR (I figured I'd spend the money to get a good quality SSR). However, after hooking everything up, the SSR doesn't seem to be functioning correctly -- it let's the 24V go through immediately. I've eve...

First up is the 24V power supply. In lieu of using the provided 12V ATX supply, I have opted for a supply capable of providing the voltage and current needed to heat the bed quickly. Thanks, Guys!

MHackney, I've considered the Cyclops as well but wanted to give the whole idea a try before spending $$$ on a new hot-end.

Dual Extruders through one hot-end?

Hi guys, I remember seeing a post but can't for the life of me find it. Someone had created a part that joined two bowden tubes into one which would allow you to feed two filaments into one hot-end. It's a way to "switch" filaments by retracting one past the split and then feeding in the o...

Heh, I saw that one, too, but the flat end turned me off (I mean, you can't go wrong for < $10, but still) I'll post up my script so far when I get home. I added a function to generate a 3d scatterplot of the buildplate with z-compensation added, so you can see what the buildplate looks like in ter...

After reading this thread and finding this article: http://www.robotroom.com/Digital-Indicator-1.html I went ahead and ordered the BG Micro digital indicator. I have no idea how well (or not) it will work but figured I'd attach it to my effector and take a stab at writing an auto-sampling routine. T...

Re: Heating 2nd nozzle requires heating 1st nozzle?

Last time I looked at it, the SeeMeCNC firmware 0.91 used the "Heat 1" connector on the RAMBO board for the Hot-End cooling fan. In configuration.h, it's this line: #define EXT0_EXTRUDER_COOLER_PIN 7 That "7" is for the HEAT1 according to the RAMBO documentation. For dual extrude...

Re: HotEnd Resistors Silicone Alternative ??!?

The whole special thing about it is it has particles of copper embedded in the silicone to better conduct heat. I, like you, was unable to find some with copper, so I just used some high temp silicone and it worked well enough for me. It does NOT contain copper -- that's just the color :-). The mai...

Re: Splitting parts to avoid support

This is Slic3r 1.0.0 x64, and Repetier-host V.95F on windows 7 x64. You say you used the Z adjustment. Where do you do that? I used the Z translation box on the object placement tab where I put in a number that aligned where I wanted it to start with the bed. Which it then ignored, because you can ...

Re: Splitting parts to avoid support

I printed a horse from Thingiverse that wasn't split. Basically, I just rotated it and sunk it down into the print-bed in RH and slicer sliced it just fine (the negative Z stuff didn't show up in the G-code). (SNIP) I am trying to print a model of a PCB, that has parts on both sides. I made the boa...
