Auto-Calibration Tweaks?

Postby Mac The Knife » Thu Jul 21, 2016 7:37 am

So even with an all new, unmolested (with the exception of wrapping the hotend with silicone tape), Hotend assembly, I still am getting a slight "tilt" with the hotend higher at the "Z" tower. Is there any tweaks that can be made to correct this?

FWIW, I spent $100 to get one too, just so I could say i had an unmolested version (and i didn't even add tape) and yes, I get it too.
My working "theory" is that the wiring harness and Bowden tube are a bit stiff, and being near the Z tower, that is the root cause??

My fix- the absolute purest and dumbest way, place some folded paper under the bed glass and lock it in. I know, horrible and not the right way.

Yep, did the paper trick with the hot rod hotend. However, I noticed when running the auto-cal while connected to the PC that when it checks the Z height at the X and Y towers, it shows two sets of number, whereas at the Z tower, it only shows one set.

When doing maintenance, and swapping out the heatsink, I discovered the heatsink as shipped wasn't very tight. After I put it together, and rewrapped the heater block, The auto calibration was closer. I'm now going to use the "digital endstop" adjustments in the eeprom settings.
