cambos T-buck tensioner parts list and files.

Post by cambo3d »

Turn buckle tensioner parts, FOR modified top supports.

I purchased some of these items in bulk, the quantities needed for assembly are in parenthesis ( ).

(1) Dubro - DUBQ2316 – 12 pack of monster ball links, package has hardware needed for installation so don’t lose the parts

(3) Packages of Great planes – GPMQ3754- Turnbuckle/pushrod, these come two per package.
(6) 2.5in 6-32 screws Mcmastercarr part# 91772A161
(12) 6-32 washers or #6 washers
(3) 5/16 OD x 1.5in length nylon spacers for #6 screws. Mcmastercarr part # 94639A371

(1) 5mm adjustment wrench, towerhobbies.com carries an assortment of these, just pick one you like. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wt ... 5mm+wrench& search=Go

(6) Modified top support plates dxf file below.

Notes:
All the turnbuckles will need to be cut down slightly, they are 54mm in length, I removed 4-6mm off each end to give me the adjustment range I needed. If you can find shorter length turnbuckles in the 6-32 size and around 42mm that would be a better fit for the current top support plates. You can also modify the dxf file so that there is more spacing in between the very top and the bottom hole, that way you don’t have to cut down the turnbuckles. My top support plates were already cut so I did the later.

If you need to cut down the 6-32 turn buckle, this can be accomplished with just some wire strippers that have 6-32 bolt cutters integrated, makes quick work of it. Just use a file to remove any burrs.

dxf files for modified top support plates.

top tensioner dxf file standard.dxf

Nice! A trinity labs one, I grabbed one of them too. Shame about the 3mm only so far from them.

Mine arrived as well, the resistor supplied is too large to fit the hole in the heater block, so I won't be assembling it for a couple of weeks, by the time the heater cartridge I ordered arrives I'll be travelling for business. :/

That's strange mine fits perfect. although i don't know if I'll use it or not. I want to switch to the cartridge style.

Be careful, if you put the thermistor in the nozzle it is damn near impossible to get PID right. I had to butcher my firmware to get close.

I don't know really, when I start project, I don't stop till I'm satisfied with the results. Usually this means late nights and long days. When I have downtime waiting for parts to arrive, i'm still working on the computer drawing up ideas for other projects, checking designs getting ready for production run... I just fit in whatever I can do, when I can.

All aluminum platform for magnetic arms

Post by cambo3d »

Just trying to gauge how many people would be interested in this. I have a proto type made as you can see from recent post. http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php ... 340#p11917

Originally made this for my own rostock but I've had a couple people interested in it also.

so I'm wondering many would be interested? What you guys think a reasonable price for this would be? If there's enough people interested, I may be able to swing it.

I'd totally be interested in a machined magnetic joint solution. Would you also have machined parts for the cheapskate side?

Personally, what I'd be willing to pay would depend on what was included, i.e. cheapskate ball mounts, mounting hardware, magnet cups, etc. Basically it would depend on how much work I'd have to do to get it up and running.

That machined effector looks great, btw.

Put me down as interested. Price can only be determined by you because we have no way of knowing the cost of materials, time invested, and profit.

I know what my cost are, just wanting to see what people are willing to pay. I'm trying to work opposite here by starting off with what people are willing to pay then do what I can to get it within you guys price range.

apache, I have an idea for the carriage side, i'm still working on and testing.

You milled this, right? Can you laser cut it instead? Would that save some cost?

I'd pay $20 for it. Maybe a bit more. Someone has to throw out a number to get started. If it was part of a kit that included a solution for the carriages, I'd pay more. How much more depends on how much I still need to do myself.

I've started collecting parts for something, but haven't yet worked out how I'll machine what I need. So far I have the magnets, some 1/2" balls, and some delrin rod. Probably going to use carbin fiber tubing from dragonplate.com.

A laser cutter capable of cutting .125" aluminum is veeeery expensive. I'm sure he'd be happy to cut you one if you supplied the laser though! :D

I dont have a laser cutter Dan, but i'll see what I can do about milling these out at a lower cost but $20 wont even cover the cost of the tooling. Unless there are more people interested.

Cambo3d, I am confused how your effector works. Xnaron's mount the balls at an approximate 30 degree angle,
yours appears to be flat. How has the testing gone on your aluminum version?
