Hey Jim, I decided I'm going to start building one of these for myself. Just ordered up the parts. Very excited!

Did you ever wind up getting FPV installed on this bad boy?

You didn't by any chance use Loctite (thread locker) on or near the propellers? It reacts with the plastic these are made from and causes it to become extremely brittle. They will shatter just like your photo.

Nope, I don't generally use threadlocker on my projects. The box of props arrived, and I had them on and spinning/exploding in about 5 minutes, so there wouldn't have been time for a reaction like that anyway.

Nice! I've got all the FPV stuff ready, but I've been waiting out the weather. Ought to have it spinning in the spring!

Hopefully that'll be relatively soon. I do have to wait on new props in the mail, but the landing gear redesign and a few other tweaks shouldn't take long. It's moved relatively fast so far, I didn't even start learning to draw 3D models again until the last week of October, so this has been a 3 month project from conception to creation. Gotta love rapid prototyping!

Will this be ready for us to see it at the Faire next month? I would love to see it.

Jim, where did you get your arrows from? I see from the Instructables writeup that you used "Allen Carbon Exacta 9152A" but when I search for it, I just get some generic results.

Was it these? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Realtree-31-C ... s/17043399

I ask because I don't know if the 7.11 mm diameter is standard for all arrows, or if it varies by make/model and I'd get a poor fit by going with something else.

I did buy them at WalMart, yes.

I may need to modify the design files though, as my local store has stopped selling that diameter. I haven't tried the other stores around the area yet. I've actually been meaning to reach out to the manufacturer about it, but haven't yet.
