What board would you recommend for 4+ Extuders?

Post by Nylocke »

I saw McHackney is using an Azteeg X3 Pro, what other solutions are out there?

I've been thinking of trying to slap a Kracken on my Ultimaker, but I wanna see how things go with my Dual Picos first, and my RAMPS is starting to lack on features.

I really like the RAMBo and how it has all the terminals for all the fans, and I like the clip in connectors for the motors and endstops so they don't easily come unplugged on accident (RAMPS is lacking on output mosfets and I want to have 1-2 part cooling fans just in case I use PLA and 1-2 fans for cooling the cooling fins on the Picos, and I've had issues with the endstops getting unplugged (which is rather annoying)) I would just get a RAMBo, but I don't wanna drop almost $200 on a board I will probably replace in another few months.

How is support for an LCD on the X3 Pro? I would like to keep my current LCD if at all possible (Just the standard Discount LCD thats pretty well supported).

What are the connectors like on the X3 Pro, and how many fans+heaters can it run? Those boards by Azteeg are pretty nice from what I've seen and heard...

Does anyone know of any other solutions?

I looked at the X3 Pro and I like it, but I couldn't figure out if it had much for LCD support? Also what connector option did you use McHackney? I saw there were 3 options including terminal style.

To the best of my knowledge, the X3 Pro is the only off the shelf 3 axis, 4 extruder solution. It supports the Viki display perfectly. I recall seeing that folks have used the RepRapDiscount LCD too but google it to be sure. I used the vertical option - that is basically what he RAMBo has.

I've been looking at the Viki, it's a very nice display, though I don't quite have the $75 for it :D. Unless I find something better, or someone mentions something better I'll probably go with the X3 Pro and Viki when I get the money. How are you enjoying your set of electronics mhackney?
