Re: Vertical Banding Issue

I just checked my .80 repeater and it has 200 segments/second for both print and moves. I think it's worth lowering the print value and seeing what that does. And maybe start tweaking it up and see if there is enough Umph to make a bit of difference. Sounds like a good idea. I think 200 is very clo...

Re: Vertical Banding Issue

Yes, every segment on a delta has to be calculated with trigonometry so rotating the object might be expected to have the same artifacts. The X and Y movements on a Cartesian printer are very simple and not subject to rounding or other errors. I think we are on to something here. Another test might...

Re: Vertical Banding Issue

I'm wondering if this is due to the line fitting algorithm in the firmware. The slight rounding errors would be reproduced layer to layer on an edge on these successive layers where the edge is the same on each layer. Make sense? This might be an artifact of the delta geometry calculations. On cart...

I've tried that. The banding is the same.

Yes I have found it through all versions or repetier from 0.8 to 0.91. I want to try Marlin again but need to build a working config as the one I have is really old. I am pretty sure it did it on Marlin but don't want to say for sure until I confirm again.

Re: Vertical Banding Issue

This is quick test. I used a clear PLA. What filament are you using? http://mhackney.zenfolio.com/img/s5/v130/p688338747-3.jpg Although you can "see" vertical bands, I can't feel these and I don't see any surface irregularities under a 10x loop. I'm using an E3D hot end with .4mm nozzle. ...

Re: Vertical Banding Issue

I'll make a prediction now that I've looked at the gcode from the STL. "The vertical lines will have the same frequency". I now don't think this is an artifact of the software - at least up to the firmware. Tell us your slicing parameters and I'll slice in KISS and try it too. thanks, Mic...

Re: Vertical Banding Issue

I ran that STL through KISS and looked at the gcode in a gcode viewer to see if anything popped out. This viewer is nice in that you can trace the print one line of code at a time. In this case, each side is a printed as a single gcode command and not broken up into individual segments like I thoug...

Re: Vertical Banding Issue

Xnaron, I am throwing this out there from a totally naive perspective... Can you print a tube about the same size and height? I am wondering if there is a slight error (rounding?? )in translating the Cartesian to Delta (Polar?). Maybe one of those artifacts will go away in the round. I should have ...

Upgrading to ARM and 0.9 Steppers - Vertical Banding Issue

I've been trying to find a cure for this vertical banding issue as pictured here: http://imageshack.com/a/img30/8264/t4l1.JPG http://imageshack.com/a/img39/7821/fim.JPG It's fairly faint but you can feel it with your finger. Grrr. Just did the upgrade, recalibrated (apart from z-=5.0mm, nothing had changed), looking good. Except now I'm having comms issues. Hit the "extrude" button on the Mac Repetier Host a few times, used to queue 'em up beautifully on 0.83, post-0.91 I get a few in and the whole command qu...

I have issues with the mag arms coming off on very large prints, has anyone else had this issue? Bill This will happen if you don't get all of the arms the exact same length. I heard that someone had a ball come off a screw. Make sure you soak the balls and screws in acetone to remove any grease or other contaminants. Make sure you mix the jb weld thoroughly. Cure it under a desk lamp so they get warm. I dure mine for at least 8 hours. After a day or so I can't knock the...

Re: Xnaron Printable Magnetic u-joint option for Rostock Max

I thought I'd try out a flat aluminum effector plate with the mag arms today. Though close, it makes it within my work volume (-120 through 120mm) without the rod ends touching the 3mm cap screws the ball bearings are sitting on. Here is a shot at Y-120. Now I've got some Z travel back. looks good....

I wanted to be able to print at a finer resolution so I built a 0.35mm J-head effector for the Magnarms. This one has a 30W heater cartridge. I turned retraction down from 4.5mm to 2.5mm. The results are amazing.
