Heated bed is Borked I AM SO CLOSE TO TAKING THIS THING AND JMPING ON IT TILL IT IS DUST. THEN JUMPING ON THAT DUST TILL IT IS MOLECULES THEN BUYING THE LARGE HADRON COLLIDER AT CERN IN SWITZERLAND. Google Discussions - Going.. Gone?

Google Duscussions Search - Gone? While trying to get my Rostock Max to work I find I used Google Discussions search a lot. Last week they dropped it from their search options. I swear I used discussions search as much as regular google. It was so good for getting a wide opinion on a subject at the ...

Re: Maybe Belt/Motor Skipping?

Testing for pillar alignment. I put a high quality engineer's square onto the glass bed to test squareness. Each pillar displayed about .5mm to 1mm gap either at the top or bottom of the square. This could just be the bed being off - which will be compensated for in calibration. I think this is a to...

Re: Maybe Belt/Motor Skipping?

Thanks! Very Helpful! Apologies for that hand signal to board members in Venezuela, Turkey and Brazil. I have just found that pushing down on each cheapskate while the machine is powered and homed helped. There was a tangible difference in "feel" and travel on one belt, so I tightened it a...

Re: Maybe Belt/Motor Skipping?

Has anyone come up with a legitimate way to tension the belts yet?
The manual says "I wish I had a better way of doing this"

I can't find anything thru search.
While fun, I'm not convinced the advice of using a bag of canned beans as leverage is accurate.

Re: Maybe Belt/Motor Skipping?

Bubbasnow: The grinding at 8 minutes - I think it's just resonance causing some vibration - but I will do antoher test once the belts are retensioned. I wont bore you with another 10 minute video - I will only uplad any anomalies if they occur. Big thanks for watching my test! I appreciate it I have...

This is my Ramps.
THe only wierd thing is that the extruder motor has to be wired in the reverse to the arm motors to work correctly.
My trimpots are all look the same - I have not touched them.

Generally all looks ok...

Re: Maybe Belt/Motor Skipping?

Bubbasnow: The skipping is at 15 seconds on my shorter youtube video: m The skipping occurs occasionally - maybe once or twice a day if I am using th eprinter for several hours a day. (Which I usually am) I plan to check the cheapskate looseness in the next day or so as part of a complete recalibra...

Re: Maybe Belt/Motor Skipping?

I hear you!
Yes I do want to switch to repetier - It's a question of changing one thing at a time.
I'm pretty sure it's NOT firmware - how do you think they got these things running well back in 2013 before Repetier firmware?

Re: Maybe Belt/Motor Skipping?

Another crazy scheme... Luckily I own a powerful electric dehumidifier and 6 one-pound bags of silica gel. I store my filament in bags with the big silica gel pouches. I will be trying some PLA again, fresh from the de-humidor, The ABS will be electrically dehumidified and silica-gel stored while it...

Re: Maybe Belt/Motor Skipping?

Tried it - It won't extrude properly at lower than 200 - 210
the ezStruder skips and what plastic does come out is a bit fat and struggles to get out...
So it is ABS - maybe just BAD ABS.

I don't know where to point the finger of blame next...

Re: Maybe Belt/Motor Skipping?

I will try that at the next opportunity.
I certainly does not smell like PLA.
Smells like hot plastic, - not the pleasant smell of pancakes!

I might go back to some PLA tests with authenticated PLA now I have moved forward on other fronts.
Any opinions on th eintermittent skipping?

I tried with cura - same temperatures, layer heght, infill and speed as in slic3r.
Different slice tool, Same defects.

Re: Maybe Belt/Motor Skipping?

I guess cura's on the list after the next temperature check and calibrate. I do know that slic3r has a threshold setting for solid infill. Look for "Solid Infill Threshold Area" under the Infill tab. If the thing you were printing had thin walls or parts, they may be automatically printed ...

Thanks - I was using .55 on th owl etc - I just took a step back with this last cube. I will try a return to .55 extrusion for my next cube. I have tried many many many single wall cubes! Maybe Belt/Motor Skipping?

After finding out that I had a defective PSU with the kit I have replaced it with a high quality, high power PSU. I have also beefed up the cabling and my bed / hotend are heating up quickly and reliably. The print problems I have been experiencing persist - possibly worse - but they have moved side...

Re: Onyx temperature loss - lack of power?

WHOA!!! UPDATE!!!!! Tried a different Multimeter - I was using a cheap digital meter. I rechecked using an Avometer Eight MK.6 (big, analog, reliable, original RRP approx $800, as used by the British Army) 12v on the input terminals of the Ramps, both idle and under full load. About 11.5volts on th...
