Thanks for your reply, Polygonhell. I'll take a look at the reference.

Re: Printing On The "Whole" Build Plate - Some Thoughts

looks like it came out great, those ears really help with the warping. bill im gonna share this photo on another forum to prove you can print big object without warping. Sure, share the photo (or just link to the thread?). Two details I failed to mention - I used a 20% infill ratio and "2 loop...

Printing On The "Whole" Build Plate - Some Thoughts

I bought my Rostock MAX to use in my design and consulting business. I received my kit exactly 30 days ago. I did the build and then set out to calibrate the machine, hoping to produce very precise prints. And some of the prints would be "large," using almost all of the build plate. Printi...

Re: Rostock MAX Assembly Manual

What did you use to make the counter sink holes? I don't have access to to a drill press and don't have anywhere to put one. I do have a Dremel. Might take a while, but it is what it is I guess. The base material is very soft. I used a countersink bit held in an adjustable file handle. I did them a...

Re: The "Missing" Rostock MAX Build Step

Carl, Here's a quick explanation. In this first photo the engineer's square is resting on the build plate (the glass) and its vertical leg is oriented perpendicular to the Y Axis face. If you zoom in in the photo you'll see there is no gap between the vertical leg of the engineer's square and the Y ...

The "Missing" Rostock MAX Build Step

I continue to "tune" my Rostock MAX. I am hoping to be able to produce very precise prints. Despite having read every post on the forum that has to do with "calibration" and related issues (including re-setting "delta radius") I have not been satisfied with what I am ge...

Re: z0 question

Look at line 130 in the Configuration.h file. Does it read: #define MICRO_STEPS 8 ? If it does, change it to: #define MICRO_STEPS 16 , re-compile, uplaod to your RAMBo, and try again. (I don't think I saw this adjustment in your description, above. The 1.1+ RAMBos use 16 Micro Steps instead of 8. Ma...

Re: popping sounds coming from filament?

I was getting the same popping printing ABS at about 240 degrees. I turned down the heat (to 235) and "no more popping." I believe it's a hot end temperature thing. Bill EDIT: Let me add this. For about seven years I worked making "one-off" eyeglasses frames using Italian-made ce...

Re: KISS Rostock Max Bed STL Model

I've posted this before, but may as well keep it with my KISS settings. You can load this STL model from KISS' Printer->Hardware tab. KISS will then show the round build surface for the Rostock MAX. What version of KISSlicer are you doing this in? There is not a Printer -> Hardware tab or icon that...

Re: Newbie

Jim, Acrylic cracks when stressed. Tighten a screw just a tad too much and..."crack!" And the cracks can continue to grow (depending on where they are). I don't know that this is the reason the acrylic versions are not for sale right now, but I would never have one. Regarding noise. I've b...

Re: Slic3r 0.9.9

I had to add "M84" at the end of the "Custom G-Code"settings in Slic3r. Otherwise, when it finished a print job, the stepper motors would "hum in unison" (ugh!).

Re: Slic3r 0.9.9

Regarding installing Slic3r 0.9.9,...well, it's a bit fiddly. I'm going to try to describe the steps I followed to get it into Repetier-Host, but I may blow up one or more of the steps in my description so proceed with caution ! These instructions work for Windows XP SP3. The steps for other platfor...

Slic3r 0.9.9

Can someone give me a step-by-step for installing/linking(?) Slic3r 0.9.9 in Repetier-Host, please? I'm running Windows XP (heavy sigh) and Repetier-Host V0.84 with Slic3r 0.9.8. When I try it "my way" I get error messages of a file saved in an unexpected location, and a missing value/para...

First Printer, First Build, First Print...

Last night I ran the first print on my Rostock MAX. My printer build was done almost completely "by the book." I did have custom build plate glass cut at a local glass company (cut in a D-shape to clear the electronics parts/soldering pads on the back of the Onyx Heater) and I also did all...

Cambo3d, The implication of your post is there ought to be such a guide. I'm right there with you. That's why I posted this thread several days ago: http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1395 IMHO it is time for SeeMeCNC to appoint a moderator for this forum. And, IMHO, the moderator sh...

Hey guys, thanks for this thread. I am a MAX noob, just finished the build. Re: Rostock MAX Assembly Manual

Figure 85 is indeed wrong. What disturbs me is that if you bend the leads per Fig. 92 and install the switch per Fig. 93, why the hell would you correct the switch when it's a hell of a lot simpler to just move the screw to the other hole? The parts that are being shipped now (those are the only on...

Need For A "Default Setup"

The purchase of my Rostock MAX kit was my “introduction” to the world of 3D printing. I’m a newbie in this area. I want to share some of my impressions of attempting to assemble or “build” a Rostock MAX, and offer a suggestion that might be helpful to Rostock MAX builders of all levels of 3D printin...
